I had an EG in '98. Never cared for it. I liked the radio and the cigarette lighter though! ::) Like I said, this might fall into my lap. Just wanted to make sure it's a decent piece. I'm way not old enough to use it yet. ;D

But that thing would look nice hanging on the wall of my garage! ;D

It's just a matter of time.
Hanging on the wall I predict will last no longer than that 2K post 2 year warranty.
dOOd, I'll make a wager on that. I will pm you the terms and conditions.
A little extra Christmas money this time next year will be nice.

Or you could own one of each! Works for me.

Hoist,

Miker did a fairly complete analysis on the whole fairing selection process for his SERK in this thread:

http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=18170.msg290858#msg290858

Personally, I originally had planned on a Hoppe Quadzilla for by SERK (I love my tunes) as it looks very well made, easy on/off, etc.   On the winning hand, however, I love the open feel of the RK without a fairing and is probably the reason I selected it in the first place. Without the windshield, it is an absolute blast (weather permitting).  With the windshield, it retains most of that feeling and look for me and there are many options for getting my tunes if I need them (most of the time, I find myself just enjoying the sound of those Rineharts!)  The Dead Center Fairing (already painted to match, etc.) sounds like a pretty good option for long trips and you can always pull it off and stow it in the hotel room if the weather is nice once you get there!  If the price is right, how could you go wrong?  Good luck with your decision.

What Are The Stages of Grief?

-Denial (this isn't happening to me!)
-Anger (why is this happening to me?)
-Bargaining (I promise I'll be a better person if...)
-Depression (I don't care anymore)
-Acceptance (I'm ready for whatever comes)

Welcome to stage one... it's just a matter of time now....

Might as well sumbit and get a big bike... it's a lot cheaper and less "grief" in the long run!!!

I checked out all 3 brands, compared the costs, and went with the Hoppe.

but, if one would have been offered to me at a reasonable price,(already painted to match),  I would have jumped on it.  REMEMBER  ,, they do come off very fast and easy.

thats the good thing about our convertibles.

lets see some of those CUSE owners strip theirs down in 5 minutes on a 90 degree day. :apple:

if you got the spare cash,, it's a nobrainer to me.

Howie,

Talk to Gene or Pam about the fairing qualities.  He has painted them all, and paints Dead Center and Dragon Fly all the time (they are both made in the same area he lives).  I was doing the same as many on here going back a forth between the two mentioned above and Hoppe until I talked to Gene and Pam.  It's both of their opinions that the Dead Center is made of much better quality than the others that they have worked with.  I ordered one last week (stereo ready as I want to pick my own tunes) and will send him my hard bags, tour pack and fairing next week.

It'll be like having three bikes in one!!!

Mine is a Deadcenter Howie.  It is well made, ewasy on-off, east to take apart to add stuff.  After paint I am in mine for 2400 so a good dea is a good deal.

When it's all done it will be almost the same as a 35K SEUC.
I read somewhere the cost is approaching 65K.
Certainly will be a one of a kind!
Hope it's running by Christmas!
Good luck.

Man, not bad at all. I thought this would be much more painful! ::)

Thanks for everyone's responses.

Good advice Craig and Dennis! :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks Jim. I'll call Gene today. He did my hard bags and is doing my TP right now. He painted this DC Fairing too! ;)

Thanks miker! Yours came out great. I'm just not sure I'd use it much. But to have it available might be worthwhile.

Binx isn't thrilled with the idea. That surprised me. She likes the bike the way it is, and likes that the TP and stereo is being added now. I think she doesn't want me to spend any more $ on it though! :o

What's the benefit to Binx's comfort and safety? :D

I put a 4" black windshield on and it looked cool but didn't stop diddley for wind, bugs, rain.
The one in the picture has the vent in it...Didn't work either.

The standard EG 9" is on it now and is the most useful for me @ 5'10".  It does pop off toot sweet and the Polk Audio 6" driver sound good.  The white wire is for the ipod, I haven't tucked it away yet.

Its not like you are going to bolt the darn thing on!  I take mine off alot when riding around town but it is nice when barrelin down I 95 because stuff hurts when it hits you.  The last step is chitcannin the mustache bar for a stocker and putting lowers on!  Naaa.

My god, go away for a couple days and come back to find this.  Anyone remember their high school history?  What music the British military band played during the surrender ceremony after Cornwallis was defeated by Washington and Rochambeau at the siege at Yorktown?

Howie, I was hoping the back was going to be a lot better man.  Sorry to read that you must aparently be on some really extreme meds.  Nothing else would account for this man.....
