How to tighten V&H TD rear headpipe lower nut????
« on: December 15, 2007, 08:21:47 PM »

Trying to tighten  rear headpipe lower nut.  I guess you need a 1/4" drive 1/2" crowsfoot as a 1/2" 1/4 drive short socket on a swivel will not go square on the nut.  Or cut a 1/2" open end wrench in two??  Or put a big dent in the pipe next to the stud-nut?   :)
Pretty disgusted and quit for now as I don't have a crowsfoot tonight.  Thanks in advance.

Crows foot or a Short wrench, This is typical with many exhausts systems......

Thanks Jim..  I cut a wrench in two and used the open end today.  I used a torque wrench on the other 3 nuts and tightened the one with the wrench as tight as I could.  Exhaust work is not hard but requires patience in getting the pipes and shields all lined up before a final tightening.

Also trying to maintain the clearance between the front pipe and the brake pedal is not easy while ensuring no leaks.
I bought a really short 1/2' wrench just for that job.

Everyone needs a set of "stubby" wrenches.  Too handy too often.
