On my jester, I put the Kuryakyn panacea tail light and LED bullets, along with the run/stop/turn adapter.  It really lit up the back much better than stock.  Also, if you do a search, lots of folks install an additional LED light strip on the leather tour packs, which obviously you will not need.

One issue with the Kuryakyn LED rear brake lights.  They are crap for viewability when the sun is behind you.

If the sun is the right (wrong) angle behind you people will not know if your light is on or not.

First I've heard of that one.  Could be true as I ususally go last in the line-up.  However, that puppy is pretty bright, so I have to think it is still better than stock, especially with the brake combo hooked up.

From what I've seen, it's much more of an issue with the smoked lenses.

Unfortunately it's what the guys behind me have told me. Sun directly on them has been a problem.  I've noticed since on others too.  Sun has to be pretty directly on.  If the angle is off very much the light is fine.  But if the sun is just right the light isn't nearly as good as incandescents stopped next to it.

Yes, and mine is.  Some different LED lights (think the company name was Custom Dynamics) also work much better in relation to this problem.  Have seen the Kury and the other side by side in "bad" sun and the viewability difference was remarkable.

The biggest drawback with the Kury's, I didn't find this out until after they were installed, is you can't use your 4 way flashers.  There isn't often an occasion to use them but when there is, it would sure be nice to do so!

You can, but not for too long.  It will overheat the load equalizer.  Do other LEDs not require an equalizer?

Hey T-Bone, I've got the Kury LED smoked lens taillight and never noticed a prob. w/ the 'flashers'.....I've used 'um when I had to pull over on the interstate.  Didn't know I had a problem until now....... :nervous: :nervous:  har!  I did know however that someone behind you in the daylight can not see your brake light.  I turned my signal lights (incandesent)into stoplights to solve the problem. spyder

Spyder,

If I understood what you said correctly, you don't have LED's for turnsignals.  If that's the case, you don't have a problem.  I've got LED's for the taillight and turnsignals and had them installed by Kuryakyn at Thunder Beach.  The guy that installed them told me not to use the emergency flashers because it would burn out the load balancers.

Damn! First time I heard that. I use mine all the time, or I should say anytime I pull off onto the shoulder, and that has been quite a lot in the last 49,000 miles. And I do have the LED turn signals too. I did have to replace the main brake light as nearly 1/3 of the LEDs were failing, but I have never replaced the load equalizer. No where in any of Kurys documentation did it say anything about the 4 ways.  :nixweiss:

Interesting, maybe it's not a problem then, that would be nice.  Do you have the panacea setup where it does the flashing when you apply the brakes?
