I have it on both my chopped and my king tour pack.

Sorry to have to do this, Steve, but it is my civic duty:

Must be that script you have (you've done it before, lol!). [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Actually don't even have that as a good excuse.  Just didn't look to see what was next before responding to what had been  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I don't understand.............I've never had a problem with the cable.......I close my lid with one hand.......what's the problem that everybody else is having with the cable?

The way my tour pak came out of the box the cable's "twist" was such that it wanted to spin out of the tour pak whenever you closed the lid.  So it'd be out behind the passenger (not a big deal) and laying across the gasket leaving an indent (perhaps more of a hassle over time).  But the "fix" was only to spin the cable one revolution on it's little pivot point in lower half of the pak.  Then it wanted to fold in rather than fold out as the lid closed.  I like my cable.  I doesn't cost extra  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

   STOP

Before you spend 69 or 79 bucks for this part, it looks like a standard Cabinet lid support. I'll look around for a source, but I'm farily sure this is a 10 or 15 dolar part.

Elvis it's a standard twisted cable.  So one revolution in either direction will make it go one way or the other (like its wanting to coil, if it were a lot longer), like a garden hose does.  If you spin it in the oposite direction, it will go to a neutral position, inside the tour pack..  Spin it once more and it will go way inside the tour pack (which can also be a nuseance).  Hope it helps ya.

Here is your pictures guys. One inside, and one outside. I wouldn't go back to the cable myself. For one this keeps the lid from opening so far as to stick out beyond the bike when open. I never have to make sure the cable isn't going to get caught when I close the lid either. JMHO, but based on the look of the brace versus the cable alone I would have paid the difference.
