Be Very Careful In Oklahoma!

Suzuki Hayabusa Police Interceptor

If you’re passing through Oklahoma and you think you can just speed through the state without any chance of getting run down from behind, think again. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has a little surprise for you, a Suzuki Hayabusa Police Interceptor, all nice and shiny and black and radar equipped. The OHP is set to get special training at the California Superbike School. Better slow ‘er down boys

Yep, OHP has had the Hayabusa for a little over a year now...I have never seen one on the street though.  I think they use them for PR at a few events.  One thing is for sure, OHP now has a scooter that they can catch you with if they need it!

The somewhat ironic thing to this is a lot of jurisdictions have far lower speed limits they'll allow for pursuit by or of a bike than they will allow for a cage.  Deterrence, it doesn't have to work to work :drink: .

Very True.  If folks just know that they (OHP) has the capability, then it will work to some degree.
Like I said, I think OHP primarily uses them for PR events -- Kinda like some law enforcement agencies have old antique police cars for parades and the like.

What are they gonna do when you're going say 90 mph in your Suburban, and you won't pull over?  I hope they are all left handed so they can waive at you.   :cucumber:

The guys who ride for the CHP put in 12 hr days in the saddle on the Cop Beemers and if you've ever been stopped by one at the end of their shift, you know they're not happy campers around hour 11. You really expect me to believe some Oky cop is gonna put 12 hrs a day in on that thing ?   hahahhahahahahahaha   whoever posted that it's for PR has it right and also the post about outrunning a Motorola is what's all about. But thanks for the post. Nice to see the cops in OK aren't any smarter about wasting the public tax dollar than cops everywhere.

B B

Yep, the Motorola will win out every time.
Not sure, but I think they might have got the Hayabusas for free, via a drug bust.  Either way, I can't imagine doing even an 8 hour shift on one.

Their neck and wrists will hurt so bad that after a couple of years they can retire on disability.  Then they can get themselves a Harley.

That bike was featured on Super Bikes one night. It was confiscated from a drug bust by the OK State Troopers. Putting it to good use,if you decide to run.  ;D

Actually,...some of the first bikes I rode on Special Operations were Kawasaki Ninjas. The first one was an original ZX900, the second one was a ZX11. Damn fast, scary fast. Why I am alive today I don't know. I was younger then, and even back then the seating position was ill suited for long periods in the saddle. Wrist, and neck pain and leg cramps. When our unit was finally given the green light to buy bikes, I went for the BMW RT.  The Ninja was not for enforcement work. Even with a full face helmet the wind noise drowned out the radio and microphone and made conversations above 60mph almost impossible. With the BMW and the taller windscreen there were no radio issues. Also, with the low slung body work, I was limited from climbing curbs and going up and down stairs. But it was fast!
