Hogasm (or anyone)--throttle/idle cables question
« on: December 23, 2007, 02:35:57 AM »

Brian, or anyone else that has been there and done that, you mentioned awhile back having gotten cables that didn't match in appearance the other cables on the bike.  What mftr's cables did you end up using that were a good match.

I know you wrote or said something about cables with good looking chrome hardware along with being simply good cables.  Looked but couldn't find it in a thread.

Any guidance would be appreciated for mftr.  Especially if they offer something in the range of 3" over.

Don;
Barnett makes what I consider to be the best in the cable game, match is good and chrome ends / adjusters as well. The Drag Specialties branded cables (Not sure who makes them for them) are also very good with a similiar appearance and chrome ends and adjusters. (I have these in stock as well.)

Don, I called Jim the other day to discuss this.

Kathy's FLHX has all matching cables and my SEEG looks like........well all the cables look different

Will be ordering new cables from Jim for both Bessie and Crash after the 25th.....oh yea and new bars :2vrolijk_21:......the other bar Don :coolblue:

Since both of my bikes only have one front caliper the brake line needs to be made up. Jim said he has everything in stock that I should need. That will be great, now I can get rid of those cheezy looking adjuster covers on the throttle cables.

Thanks Jim.  Remembered (vaguely) having talked about this with Brian but didn't remember if he'd reached a resolution or was still searching.  Knew any search could likely end up with you though.

In something two to three inches over stock with the cruise switch what's the cost for a pair in either brand.  Have used lots of Barnett cables before but had not had the opportunity for side by side visual comparison to what we've got now.  Good to know they'll be a good match.

Let me know a price and will get some money coming your way.

The combination of the 50mm throttle body moving the throttle plate outboard just a tiny bit and the WO575 bars forced a move of my cables from their original hole through the fairing to the same hole with the handlebars and brake line.  It works ok.  One turn is more acute than I'd like.  But I'm really just using that as an excuse to finally get rid of the adjustor covers that I'm not wild about either.....  ???

No problem Jim.  No rush.  I'm not working on the bike right now.  Just collecting parts so I can do everything I have a mind to all at once sometime after the first of the year.

So Brian what kind of bars are you going with I assuming that its not the 575?   Are they what is on Kathy's bike that you are going with?

Kathy's FLHX has the Harley pull back bars pn#55914-98

I had a set of these bars on my bike. They don't come predrilled for internal wiring. I drilled them out and the broke in half where I drilled them. On her bike I didn't internally wire it. Was gun shy from my bike.

I have the 575's on my SEEG. I have become accustom to them so I will put them on Crash. Thought about a set of mini apes for it, but....still have time to think about it...Jim is out of town for a week......too much time to think....more money..... :coolblue:

Anyone notice that Kathy doesn't seem to be making any decisions about what to put on her bike? :nixweiss:  It's the only bike in the family that runs, now Brian's messin' with it :o :nervous: :huepfenlol2:

Refreshing this thread to remind myself to buy some cables from Jim when he gets back.

Jim, I've forgotten.  Did you ever source those Lyndall 7183 Z pads?  Or do I need to pick them up elsewhere?
