SOOO! Sick
« on: December 26, 2007, 10:45:25 AM »

I'm really getting tired of taking my high dollar POS back & forth to dealer more than riding it. I think the compression releases are bad but they, without even checking them said it was timing detonation. BS. They have had it on the dyno more than it has been on the street! Here is what it is doing. When I do a rapid acceleration it sounds like a spitting or air leak on top of rockers. I rode it the other night 2-up looking @ Christmas lights with my HOG group @ 40 degrees & it spitted & was sluggish as heck! Tell me if I'm wrong & does HD have any bulletins out on the CP's? :rifle:

Fuzzy,
Do a search on the Auto Comp Releases (ACR) and you will find info
on the problems with those pieces.  Unfortunately there are a few
on the site that have had and are having problems with them.
Sorry to hear about this for you now.  Mine is due to head back in for the leak
at the rear HG and Cylinder.  Oh yeah, what freak'n fun,

doesn't sound unreasonable to me to at least have them checked.  The ACR's on Hoist's bike malfunctioned when the wires to them overheated because they are close to the heads and melted the insulation causing a short.  I've also read a post on here somewhere that said lubricating the ACR's to prevent them sticking should be part of normal maintenance.

I believe that was for manual compression release not for the auto compression release's (ACR's). :nixweiss:

Probably the best solution is to change the cams to something with a little duration and overlap, and then remove the ACR's and plug the holes in the heads.  Cam timing is what creates the need for the CR's, not the static compression ratio.

Thanks for the clarification.  I automatic really means automatic in this case (automatically lubricated!)

Thanks for the replies. I will insist they check them this time. My dealer treats me well. Unfortunately the techs everywhere around here are lacking in training or just want to get the bike out so they get paid.
