I know many of you arent exactly big fans of the Paulies' work....

but this is kinda cool and a little close to home

three soldiers in my headquarters  were selected to help design and build this beast with the OCC dudes...

they have very creative minds and many of their ideas were incorproated into the build

anyway, the unveil will be aired on the 17th if you are interested

Very cool.  Just curious though.  What did the Guard have to pay for the privilege?  The storyline has always seemed to be that OCC does almost nothing for nothing.

You know what, doesn't really matter.  If a large handfull of boys in green got to have fun they deserve it.  That's tax dollars well spent.

Obviously a recruiting/advertising bonanza.  I still don't mind that a few troops got to have a good time and hopefully an expenses paid little TDY to play at OCC for a bit.

Haven't had an excuse to actually read the budget numbers for such.  But have read from more than one source that on a percentage basis retention budgets have gone up more than recruiting budgets.  Though I don't know where recruiter personnel salaries and other expenses are line itemed in there.  However it all breaks down I admit to being quite surprised the numbers have held as well as they have; and with not that much change in overall standards.  It speaks to both the effectiveness of the job and population willing to still serve.  The job hasn't been perfect.  But it's been nicely done in difficult times by many.
