Detachable Antenna?
« on: March 31, 2005, 07:05:20 AM »

Anybody using the HD antenna relocation kit for their tourpak?  Any way to get some pictures of where exactly you mounted it to bike and tourpak?  I seem to have alot of cable left, directions are sad.

thanks,

Elvis I think most of us are using the Dakota Digital Hidden Antenna or the Tune Trapper or some other make of an antenna that goes in the front fairing.

Elvis,
I am not sure that the bracket used on the 05 would work on the 04 since the luggage rack was changed. I still use the antenna, although a shorter than stock one. I tried the tune trapper and was not happy with the reception compared to the whip. In any case if you would like to try the tune trapper, don't buy one, just send me an email with an address and you can have the one I have collecting dust. If you want pictures of the bracket on the 05 I will be happy to post one later today when I get home.

Steve,

If Elvis doesn't want to take up your kind offer --- I have a proposition.

I will gladly seek out any English item that takes your fancy to the tune of $30 and pack it stateside for you if you will post me a Tune Trapper. I would have bought one from www.ecshylites.citymax.com but they won't ship abroad.

I can't imagine what you would want from our dark satanic land but I will try to help.

Good advice, one of the things I have always disliked about the baggers with radios is that thing sticking up that looks like a flag on a dune buggy.  My FLHTSE2 is in, and I have ordered the Dakota Digital hidden antenna.  Looks like a simple install, and a logical fix that Harley could build into a bike for $30k +

I had the dealer install a hiden antenna & it doesn't work nearly as well as the guys whips that I ride with. Don't know what brand I have & also don't know if there's much differnce between brands.

Freedom Cycles (yeah the pipe guys) has a short rubber antenna that threads right onto the HD mount where the whip goes. It looks much better and so far seems to ba as good as the whip. Here's a link to there site with a pic: http://www.dynasite.net/dynaweb/1000441/explore.cfm?p=N&store=Y&U=1&SS=1&S=1000441
