STOCK STROKER 103 VERSES STOCK TWIN CAM 88
« on: March 31, 2005, 07:11:56 AM »

I would like to know exactly what engine components such as pistons, rings, heads, valves, cams, camshaft any other item, the hd part numbers that set the two engines apart in the efi 88 and 103. What would have to be changed in an 88 to make it a 103 and what would it cost? How much more power,hp ,torque etc. does the 103 have over the twin cam 88? Are the gears in the transmissions the same? At 3,000 rpm's how fast is the 88 and the 103? What exactly does stroker mean and why does it have a different sound than the 88? If any body will help me with some answers I will be much oblized.

i went with the se-103 kit right out the box.
the gear ratio is the same.the tranny is the same. the kit comes with a heavy clutch spring.
stroker is the flywheel which gives the motor a longer stroke. hense a larger displacement.(1690)
i can't tell you how fast i am going at 3000 rpm's because i don't have a tach.
i can tell you that i an going much faster than a stock tc88.
if you check out this link, it list most of the components.  http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448764975&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302319503&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302319503&bmUID=1112276123433&bmLocale=en_US

Bruz,

Sorry I am not much into part numbers until I really have to do something, but when you take a 88 inch motor and go to a 103 motor there are complete kits from the SE catalog.

OLD guy?  I don't even see any gray hair on that reflection.  Maybe it's a magic air cleaner cover.   [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Yeah, 'er 'uh, kng103,
I like ridiculous, Hell, I am ridiculous! [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  I don't know how they teach Math in NY, [smiley=nixweiss.gif] but down here in the Mountain State, they taught us if you have the same tranny, the same ratio, and the same RPM, Cubic Inch Displacement would not be a factor. [smiley=laugh.gif]  You would be traveling at the same rate of speed, regardless of power supply, which I would estimate to be 70 MPH @ 3000 RPM.  There endeth the lesson.  Later--HUBBARD

your theory is only correct if both bikes are in 5th gear cruising.
wouldn't a bike that has 20#'s more of torque, get to that rpm much faster?

Same sprockets, tranny etc....basically, same final drive ratio...your rpms and speed should match.  You may get there quicker (3000 rpms) but once there...they should be the same.

You change a sprocket, gear or soething like that, then yes, your rps could be different.

"Tater Hubbard"
Based on some of your comments all I can say is

Gasoline fumes I hope? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Like I said, when we go to the Dragon last man to the top buys the other a shirt.

Have you seen the T-shirt on John Kerry?
"I spent 10 million on the election and all I got was this lousy T-shirt"

Got a T-shirt for you Tater. On the front it says,
"I spent 60K on this Lead Sled and didn't even get a shirt from Deals Gap"

[smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
"Tater" you are so easy!

Also on the back it reads,

"Someday, I will be like my friends and own a CVO"

Your way to easy "Tater"

If the estimate of 3000 RPM = approx. 70 MPH, then what RPM would approx. 115 MPH? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
