Wayah Road Video
« on: December 29, 2007, 11:15:46 AM »

Here's a video of the ride we took at the Copperhead Lodge GTG in North Georgia.  This is Wayah Road in North Carolina, just a short run from the CHL.  This is a great ride, and a must do if you've never ridden it before.  Nice creek on the right/left going in, lakes, and on the backside of the run, some houses/cabins I would love to live in right on the creek.  There are challenging sections of this road, but it's a nice run where speed can be carried throughout...there are some hairpin turns though!!

Pinky, Susan (AJ's significant other), and Cheri are featured in the beginning, along with the 'Possum... ;)

I'm still trying to figure out this editing stuff, so it's not nearly as smooth as some others you've seen here, but I'll get there.  Shot with an extreme wide angle adapter on the lens, so distances are not what they appear to be.  Chief, Tbone, and Henry were in front of me, with the rest of the group behind.

Here's the link on YouTube:

Thanks, Chuck...it was a fun time, that's for sure.

Did you get a postcard in the mail from CHL offering a discount to stay there before 4/1/08? 30% off the stay.  If the weather is nice in March, I might have to take them up on that deal.  Some really nice riding up there, and CHL is a great place to base from!!

Got mine!  Just say when!  Thanks for the video Terry.  Great job.  I knew it was good riding, but that sure brought back some great memories.  On Christmas Day, we were discussing when we should try to use that discount card!  It's no hard sell on this end!  Let us know when you guys are thinking about, and maybe we can join you.  Chuck and Bob are both close to Copperhead.  I bet we could get them to join in as well.  I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

No card yet. I'd be up for going back as soon as the bike is back in one piece. That may turn out to be March afterall.  ;D

GGRRREAATT riding road for Long Long Way...This is the route that Duane found for us to ride home from MV back to NJ, yes traveling south and east.  Beautiful curve and scenery.  :2vrolijk_21:

How about the last weekend in March?  Should be warm enough then, unless we have something unusual pass through.  We're up for it!!  I'll be itching for a big ride by then!!!

I plan on incorperating that road into a ride at MV 08, if there is any way possible.  You'll be there, won't you?

Thanks, Hoist...I'm a long way from being at the level of Pat, but it's still fun to relive the ride.  I'm working on the tape from the Cherohala and Dragon.

You guys have a great New Year's Eve!!

Thanks for sharing the video Terry, it brought back lots of great memories.  I think Wayah Road was the first road that I started having turning problems with my bike.   :nixweiss:  I think it was something in the air because Ken experienced the same thing on his bike later.  :confused5:

We got our card too, finding it would probably be another story.  ;D  Let us know when you guys want to do it, just a hop, skip and jump for us.

Terry,

Great video and thanks for sharing.  I passed the word around on the CHL to some of my riding buds are in north Texas.  It's on the radar for  a ride in 2008.  May take a while to get there from here, but looks like it is well worth the time to get there.

Happy New Year.
