That is the Federal Express HQ Hub. My office is across the street from it. As I understand it, every package shipped Fed X goes through this hub, so you can imagine how many flights come through here every night. The good part is they all come in after 1800 and all planes have to be back in the air before 0700. Luckily, I live 15 miles away and am never at the office during these times. The bad part is, depending on the weather, the whole area is directly in the flight path at one time or another. Everyone is so used to it after 30 years, nobody notices the planes anymore. Plus, without Fed X, Memphis would have become a desolate crime ridden gang war world 25 years ago (instead of 15 years ago). We're number one, yeah! Number one in rape, murder, government assistance and we've even surpassed New Orleans in political graft. The fastest growing county in the United States is Desoto County, Mississippi, directly across the state line from Memphis. People are running over each other trying to get out of here. Ain't we something?
