In August 2006 Harley-Davidson and Lehman announced a joint venture to bring a stock Harley trike to the showroom floor - a new Harley-Davidson model.

One would think that the MoCo would not make an announcement too early and it was expected that this new Harley-Davidson trike would hit the dealer's floors with the 2008 models... As we know now, that didn't happen.

Has anyone heard anything about this?  Is there any expected date when we can buy a trike direct from a Harley dealer?  Or, has this idea been dropped since Victory also announced the same plan to deal with Lehman for a stock Victory trike???

I have seen pictures of the Victoy trike, but don't know if they are selling them yet.  However, it is the Harley-Davidson version that is most interesting.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

2008 introduction of a 2009 HD Trike has been a fairly consistent rumor.  New market for HD & bet it will be a good one.

This question was presented to the HD execs at the Town Hall meeting at the Hog Rally in Knoxville last August. No specific date was given, but the deal was still on.

One point they made very clear was that they weren't going to slap HD on a Lehman trike and call it done. It was going to be a Harley product.

Somewhere back aways in the Rider Down section, I think I posted about a friend of mine named Paul who died in a bike crash in Florida in 06. Paul owned one of these. I have to say, it was a workout to ride. I felt like I'd done curls with a 200lb barbell after 30 miles of twisty backwoods Maine roads. And I was the south side of 40 at that point. Certainly do hope that they figure out a way to lighten up the front end of whatever they market.

Sorry to hear about your friend, BB. 

Remember this one steering as you describe.  A beast.  Have not ridden any of the more modern day trikes - have heard they are much better.  HD knows their owner base is aging & the bike to trike conversion after market is strong.  Seems like a natural - echo your sentiments on better rideability for this new version to be.  Suppose someday there will be a CVO trike from them as well.

...they tried this before with the Tri Hawk in response to the phony gas crisis that went away, but the aging biker...now that can't reverse itself.
