Windshields
« on: January 03, 2008, 03:31:28 PM »

I just got my 08 CUSE and took it out for the first time on New Years. I'm wee bit over 6'4" and got a little more wind buffeting with the stock windshield that I would like. I had to switch between 3 windshields on my Road Glide to get to the one I found most comfortable. Sometimes it's not the wind itself but the noise that bothers me most. I can't be the only big ugly dude on this site and was wondering what you other guys have done. Any advise that will keep me from a matching set of CUSE windshields to go with my Road Glide collection.

I'm 6' 4" also and hated the stock screen. I went with a Clearview 12.5 w/recurve and LOVE it.

Yep, same issues.  I have a shelf full of the windshields.  I continue to run a 9" from HD, my 06 came witht he dark smoke 4" & while it looked great it was terrible.  HD here in Reno has a really nice 9" smoked that has a curve built into the top of it, a friend of mine put it on & loves it, he is 6'4" also.  Trouble is it is cracking up from the mounting screws, waiting to see what happens with his replacement.

I hate the 12", although I do run it in bad weather,  as when I look forward the top edge of it is right at an anoying place in view.

Clearview...give them a call, talk to John, and he'll tell you how to measure for it.  If you measure right, you'll only need it and nothing else.  But expect to wait a couple of months for it...

I'm not nearly as tall as you, and I didn't like the 10" either.  After the first ride in the rain, I know I had to change.  I went to a 12" Harley windshield:

Clearview with the recurve.  Hands down fav.   I have a shelf full of others though.....   :-[   The 11.5" was perfect for me.  Call John and ask how to measure for perfect on the first shot instead of shotgunning like I did.    Mine only took a week and a half to be here...

Thanks for all 411, I'll be giving Clearview a call tomorrow. Who know if I get something I like, I might have to expand the Road Glide collection.

Tell Clearview you are a CVO Harley member and they should give you 10% off.

Don't even waste your time screwing with the Harley stuff.  Do it right the first time and get the Clearview.  It will be well worth any wait.

I put a Memphis Shade custom made to match my bike via the tint - looks great and perfect size!  It's the second one I have purchased from them!

I'm only 6' but built like a duck (short legs) so my head is near where a 6'4 person would be.

Clearview 12.5" has been great.

I hear other people say "expect to wait a couple of months" but I ordered mine online and it was on my doorstep in 3 days.
