Should I be concerned?
« on: January 08, 2008, 09:49:20 AM »

Im looking at buying my neighbors 07 SERK.  He has about 5,000 miles on it.  Should i be worried about the problems that the 110's are having?

The SERK3 is the best RK HD made to date. If you're not concerned about dealing with a few possible issues, I wouldn't think twice about it. The bike rides awesome and can be made to run the same. Fixing it ain't rocket science. But if you're gonna wait for HD to do it for you, it might get a little frustrating. And you can always fix it yourself, like myself and many others are doing now. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. I'd do it again in a flash! ;)

just worried about having to fork out a bunch of money if something was to happen.  the bike i have now runs and drives perfect so im undecided yet.  ive driven the serk and love it.  neighbor has made it to look like my bike.  handlebars, lowered,  very trick true dual exhaust system.  and i like the leather hard bags.

Have an '07 SERK here.  Not a single problem.  It is a fantastic bike.  I share Hoist's sentiments... Milwaukee's finest Road King.

Sure is Candy! He has the natural ability to take the best bike and capture it in all the best surroundings! I always look forward to see where his SERK3 will be seen next! Stills or video, they're always awesome! You gotta admit, his beautiful SERK plays a big role in these great shots tho! ;)

Does he have an extended warranty, and is it transferable?  It sounds like the major stuff hasn't hit yet - cylinder liner/head gasket, ACRs, what ever the next thing is - so you may be inheriting those along with it.  I'd say it depends on what kind of deal he's giving you.  Harleys aren't holding value like they once did, especially with unsold ones sittiing on dealer floors.  If you go in knowing you will probably have to do some repairs to it, and it still comes out a better deal than an '08 (with ABS and a cleaner-looking front end) then do it.  The '08 may have similar problems, but it would be under warranty at least.
