Currently it's 12 yes and 5 no.

Thank you. You guys with good ones are lucky. But with backup that there are good ones out there, maybe they'll buck up and take care of them! ::)

Good luck guys. Let us know if the numbers change much. :2vrolijk_21:

Out of curiousity, I'd like to see the poll results. I won't vote, since I don't have one. But then you can't see the results. Would you mind changing the poll format to allow everyone to see the results. Thank you. :2vrolijk_21:

Hoist,

I just tried to modify the poll to allow everyone to view without voting, but I couldn't figure out how to do it???

Anyway, so far 17 have voted and 5 have no over lapping and 12 do.

Hope this helps.

Take care,
Grizzly

PS - I just read the next two posts and realize you received your answer.

It would help me a lot if the 5 who don't have an over lap would send me a photo for proof that it CAN & HAS been done correctly.  So far I have received photos from thedugans, but more from different owners would certainly help my case with the MoCo.

Thanks in advance!

OK, as we see the number of vote increase and so far we have 5 who have no problems with over lapping gold leaf...

For those 5 and anyone else who are lucky enough NOT to have a problem, please list your number.

Mine is #601 and it would be good to know if your number is higher or lower... Thinking of course that yours is higher and the MoCo's painters finally figured out how to do the pin striping correctly???

It will be interesting to see if it's only the earlier produced bikes that have the problem.

Thanks in advance to everyone for helping me out on this one.

Take care,

Well, I guess I expect too much???

I've always been told that all CVO's come from a separate line with the MoCo's "best of the best" working the line!

I realize that a oen off paint job will be better than an assembly line bike, and although the paint on my Duracell is exceptional compared to most of the stock Ultra's, I have seen better pin striping on the stock Ultra's that come from the regular line and that is not what one would expect.

So far with the poll there are 3 that do NOT have an over lapping and 8 that do...

I have to believe there are a lot more Duracells out there and hopefully they see the poll and let us know about their paint - good or bad.  Hopefully the good ones will begin to post photos which I need to show my dealer that it CAN and HAS been done correctly.

Again, thanks to all that take the time to vote in the poll, and let's see your photos PLEASE.

Thanks!
Grizzly

Grizzly, I'm not flamin ya, just noting that we can't compare the paint jobs on our bikes to a custom shop one-off jobs. I agree that the seam in your tour pak lid isn't good and I hope Harley will work with you, but when it comes to cosmetic issues, their reputation ain't that good. Have you tried calling HD customer service and opening a ticket with them? I have found that when I can get past the first level techs, they are great people to deal with.

You are correct that the CVO bikes are assembled by one person, but that guy or gal is just pulling parts off of a cart or bin and doing the assembly. All of the parts come from the same place the stock parts come from and the painted parts come from an outside vendor, so the assembler is pretty much stuck with what they have to work with, and they too have to get their quota out the door. It would be nice if the assembler would cherry pick only the nicest of parts and toss away the not-so-perfect ones aside, but I don't think that nit-picker, as he would be labeled by management, would have that job for too long.

I hope you can get a new lid that will make you smile like you probably smile when you're riding your purdy scoot.

Hey Chief,

Thanks for your concern and I do not disagree with you... How much can we really expect from an assembly line product?  The CVO's are certainly the best the MoCo has to offer, but they do have to rely on many to do their jobs and that is always a difficult task as appose to a one man show building custom bikes.

I'm fortunate that my dealer agrees that the paint job is defective and is doing their best to correct the problem... So far we've received one replacement lid and it was worse than my original.

What is need now is as many photos as possible from Duracell owners who have no problems with over lapping, which will give me and my dealer some ammunition to go back to the MoCo with.

Thanks again Chief for your comments and concern.

Take care,

Mine's #765 w/ overlap. I'm not concerned, it's only visible if you really look closely.

I saw #23 and #811 today at Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Murfreesboro, TN. #23 was more visible than #811. #811 is possibly gonna be available but I'm patiently waiting on my White Frost and Silver Mist that is supposed to be built on February 15th......
