Extended Heel Shifter
« on: April 08, 2005, 01:50:44 AM »

Here's a pic of the 2 3/4"  billet extended heel shifter from bubbas with the standard alongside for comparison. This works great for me as I can now move my feet around on the boards some and still use the heel shifter when I want, to keep from scuffin' up da toes on ma blu suede shoes.

I used the ez brake ones 2in extended front and rear so I could get my size 14 boots on the floorboards.

Size 14 !?!?  You don't need a footboard you need a 2x8 plank about two foot long !

Extension looks nice.  Where is Bubbas?  Is that a vendor?  Never heard of that name. [smiley=confused.gif]

Do you find you have to reach for the extended heel shifter ? I replaced the peg on mine with a skull nut. It lets me move my big feet around & is just enough to catch with my heel when I get tired of toe shifting . I don't worry about my boots but some days my broke up foot doesn't take kindly to toe shifting.

BAKRDS;  I was a little worried about having to reach for it when I first put it on but it was no problem at all and felt natural right from the get go.
An added bonus is that the longer arm makes the shifts feel a lot smoother/

Jock; sorry to hear about your problem. I went out and looked at mine and it's still tight and in great shape.
When I went to sturgis last year one of the guys in our group had his stock toe shifter strip out. I had a hell of a time getting it off of the stripped shaft. I took the heel shifter and put it up front and used a couple of lids off of water bottles for shims. It was ugly but it got him back to KC.

An update...had to take it off today and got back to stock...The shifter would come lose quite ofter and the threads were torn...Some may recall my Dragon event and again today...Hate it.

Jock, were you using lock tite?  I've had the stock units come loose until I started using lock tight on them.

I met a guy (John Gilgalleo) at the end of the Great Lakes Tour last September and he has a different product for the Toe/Heel shifter. Not sure if it will fit the SE's or not.  His web site is http://www.slickshifters.com/.  I think its a great idea.  Just my 3 cents worth.
