More cars than bikes at the Easyriders show!
« on: January 25, 2008, 09:11:43 PM »

Was at the Easyriders show Charlotte tonight setting up the Frontier display. When we finished Nancy and I walked around the show. I couldn't believe it. There were more cars there than bikes. Is that happening at other E/R shows?
Talked with a few people there and they said that the E/R people had been calling them to get more bikes in the show. Every year the show gets smaller and smaller but now it has cars. Kinda sad!

Sacramento had one.  And as trick as the car was, just didn't have a crowd hangin around like many of the bikes on display.

By the way, this year's show in Sacramento was the biggest it's ever been (number of attendees).  Last year was pretty big but this year was incredable.....packed from the minute the ticket windows opened till the doors closed at 9:00 p.m.

Talked with a friend of mine that had a display at the show.

Said two weeks ago Easyriders only had 80 bikes signed up.

It was either fill it with cars or cancel the show.

He also said Easyriders was having the same problem with the Memphis show for next week.

Should be interesting to see how many cars are there.

When ER hit Fort Washington they called me and asked if I'd attend the show. The gave me an end cap with power right in front of the entrance. They were hurting for bikes and rotating bikes is a bonus.

Well here's an interesting note to the Easyriders show.
The place did fill up even if it took about 20 cars to get it full.
The Frontier was there with the purpose of exposure to try and sell it.
It was entered in the custom class. (E/R's decision not mine, didn't matter to me)
I think there was 41 bikes in that class and all I was looking for was the exposure.
The bike has been at the Harley shop for the past two months on the sales floor and was dusty and dirty and full of fingerprints.
Nancy and I spent about two hours cleaning it up Friday night.
It looked good (IMHO) sitting there on display.
The guy that built the motor picked it up for me this evening and he called me on the way home.
"Chip, the Frontier won 4th place at the show."
How cool is that?
0 to a 100 it's an awesome bike!
Maybe I should keep it.
Just don't have enough room in the garage!
Did get one offer but turned it down.
Maybe someone will call next week.

Yeah, but how many trucks?  There were some really nice cars, a few nice bikes (the Frontier did show nicely IMO and was in a poor location, so 4th is pretty darn good, considering the bikes in that class!).  All in all, it was a total waste of a show.  We looked at every bike, some in great detail, glanced at every car and truck (studied a few), talked to a few people we ran into and were still hard pressed to spend 2 hours on site.  Total lack of vendors, poor showing on bikes (even though some were very nice), poor quality biker babes (even the Copenhagen girls had belly rolls!)  It's the last time E/R's will be getting my money!  But, Congrats Chip on the 4th place showing.

Every problem has multiple solutions....  (to many bikes or to few garages)

Maybe winning the ribbon was her way of telling you to pursue alternate solutions to the overcrowding situation!

congratulations on winning the ribbon!!   :2vrolijk_21:
