Satellite Radio's
« on: April 12, 2005, 09:44:10 AM »

Was at a truck show and came across the Sirius "Streamer GT" SIR-SL1 satellite radio. Nice compact unit. So does anyone have one? Has anynone gone the XM route with the new Delphi system? XM is more Nascar. Sirius is more Sports. Which one did you choose? Was it the price for the unit or price for the monthly rate? www.brixcom.com. They also said they were talking to Harley and were trying to come out with a handle bar version of this unit that was waterproof. Not till next year.

I have an XM MyFi, it has a built in FM modulator and antenna, so I can put it in my jacket pocket and it plays thru the Radio on the bike.

Just as info Nascar is moving to Sirius starting 2007. I have both XM and Sirius and prefer the playlist of Sirius by far, but I could not find a Sirius unit for my bike that was small enough and light enough to mount where I wanted it.  As a result I went with the XM Roady2 on the bike and still have my Sirius in two vehicles, the garage, and the house.

Here's the site for the Streamer GT. It the smaller compact one.Liked it more than the Delphi only for the toggle  control - seemed much easier to switch channels with compared to the channel wheel on the Delphi. No idea about any of the other freatures yet.

Sirius has a model called the Starmate...$99 with car kit. About the size of a deck of cards. Sounds great for the bike, gonna go look at one and then figure out how to mount it etc.

Both are $12.95 per month. The receivers for your car or m/c are about $100 [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I use the MYFI unit on my bike and it works great.  I found a mount that puts the unit a eye level for easy viewing.  I run into a few places where recieption fade, but I also have 5 hours of stored music on it as well.
