Not always good news on the homefront gang. Every once in awhile, you're given a wakeup call to reality, and realize what's really important in life. And it ain't threads about Global Warming or a member of a website's membership. It ain't about my motor getting built or breaking either. It ain't about anything that superficial at all. A few months ago, I put up a Thread with my SERK and my buddy Joey's new Street Glide. Unfortunately, tragedy struck my buddy Joey and his family. His bikes are in a shed behind his house. You'll see the significance of this in a moment. First the tragedy.
Last Sun, Jan 20th, their house burned down to the ground. They were inside sleeping. Arson is suspected, either accidental or malicious kids. But it was set externally on their front porch. Joey, his wife and son all got out OK. But as you see, they were left homeless. The house was all but burned down to the ground. It's been a terrible week as a result. The family is fine and was staying at his brother's house. There is really nothing any of us were able to do. It's just a sad, sad situation. I only ask that you think about them in this horrific time for this family. Their insurance was up to date, and they've been working with, and getting relief from them. I can only support him, offer shelter, storage, or anything else he needs. I've told them what's mine is theirs.
I also offered to store his bikes. Them and his tools are about the only things they have left. This stuff was in the shed behind the house, and were the only remnants left of all of their property. His bikes and tools. Damn!!!
I'm only sharing this with you guys because this has made me sick to my stomach, and I need to get this out to help sort this all out in my head. Thanks for putting up with it, and I hope ya'll keep Joey, Cheryl, and Little Joey in your thoughts! Thanks gang!
There are some pics I took off of the Hicksville FD's Website. They're pretty graphic. There's actually a U-Tube video of it that one of the firemen took. I'm not putting that link up. If you really want to see it, you'll find it. The pics probably wouldn't mean much unless you are, or personally know these people. We see this on the news all the time. But it's not really real unless it happens to you or your family. This is my first time tragedy like this struck so close to home. I don't believe in organized religion at all. But I do believe in God. And I thank him every day that my brother and his family walked away from this terrible tragedy. Please find it in your hearts to add them to your thoughts too. And thank God for all the courageous Firemen and women that tried their best to save his house. I can not thank all ya'll doing this extremely brave job everyday for your heroic efforts! You folks and all our service men and women will remain my heros forever!!! Thank you all for what you do for, us and thanks for letting me vent.
