The 05 bikes have a stupid black thing on the rear fender that keeps them away.

My '03 SERK has the same phenomena.  After investigating UFO's, Crop Circles  [smiley=alien.gif]and the like....I've determined that a small thread from my cleaning cloth gets stuck under the corner of the "V" badge.  This thread then swings in an arc when you ride and cleans the little spot.

TB, I looked for that infamous lose thread but none to be found.

Twolanerider, I considered your theory of the laser alien beam but this is not plausible. The aliens would obviously target one of those yellow SEEGs which can clearly be seen from space.

DavidB and HD2003, I will gladly take the gremlins with my V logo over that stupid black ugly thing.

Well, the strangest thing happened regarding the CVO 'V' Emblem.  I was trying to buy another one at a Dealership w/ my VIN #.  I was informed that I would have to turn in one for them to send to the MOCO w/in 60 days or they would be fined $5,000.00.  I asked what would happen if I had 'just lost mine'?  Then I was told something about submitting a signed affidavit or something that would have to be submitted to the MOCO.  Has anyone else run into this in trying to obtain the emblem?  Inquiring minds wanna know!  [smiley=confused5.gif] [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=dunce2.gif] [smiley=brood.gif]

dunno the part # on the emblem.  It's the CVO emblem on the back fender of the '04 SEEG's in the same place as the stupid ugly black thing on the rear fender on the '05 SEEG's.  Nite-Al  wanted me to get him one to replace the SUBTOF on his '05.  Didn't work so far. [smiley=furious.gif]

I have heard of the fine for painted CVO parts but not for a $5 emblem.

I saw an emblem on Ebay a good while back.  It may have been off a wrecked bike.  It did bring a fairly good buck as well for the seller.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Yeah, I was told the cost (if they'd sell you one as a legit replacement was a whole lot more than $5 !!!  Can't remember exactly how much as I was still in shock of the Dealer's claim of a $5000. penality if not sending in the replaced one. [smiley=shocked2.gif]

The ILT (Infamous Loose Thread) only comes out at highway speed to clean it's designated little round spot.  [smiley=bath.gif] Very high tech stuff by the motor company.  There is even a wire behind the headlight to disconnect it's deployment.  That is why the emblem is so pricey. The ILT is back and busy as ever.  While on my recent trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway, I had a crop circle appear on my rear fender again. (Much to the amusement of my fellow riders on the trip.)   A perfectly round clean spot appeared on an otherwise filthy bike.

After close inspection, the ILT (Infamous Loose Thread) was located under the "V" emblem and removed.  No more crop circle.
