Intended new parts offerings.
« on: February 05, 2008, 05:59:19 PM »

After the dealer show this past weekend I'm looking into a few products which I will offer in the group buys section when I get some details.

One item is another stabilizing device for the rear of the trans. What I like about this product is that it bolts behind the trans as opposed to under it.

Another product is Arnott's air ride. I sat on their demo bikes and that is some nice air ride. I have several of their products and every item is perfect.

Hoist suggested that I mention that I Have been selling the Hell's Foundry Road Glide stripes on eBay. As he and I discussed there isn't a tremendous markup on these things so I don't know what I can do yet for the forum.

If there is interest I'd look into the new HF leather dash boards. Derick said they were 90 days out on them however he is pushing for 60 days.

Hoist made it a point to introduce me to the Yuill (SP?) Bros. It appears they are looking for some East Coast representation. Due to the cost I don't think I'll group buy the product. I'll look at the numbers when the pricing shows up and see what I can do for the forum.

The final thing will be the gear conversion kits for the 07-08 bikes.

Well I thought I'd throw this out there so you know I'm going to try and hook the forum up with some parts.

Are you thinking that we'd turn a inner fairing in to have it covered with leather, or would one just buy a new inner fairing covered in leather?

Good job getting the distributership for these products.

Derick explained it to us as an outright purchase than he had mentioned a core credit for a perfect core returned to him. As the details become available I'll post them. Than again if one would rather keep their OEM inner than that is ok also. As much as I like a painted inner fairing the leather would be sweet on those bikes with leather bags and Tour-Pacs. :2vrolijk_21:

special colored seats, back rests (tan, grey, red, white, blue etc.)

I am interested in getting the inner part of my lower fairing and glove box cover in matching tan leather.  Have not seen that yet.  Not ready to trade MY painted inner fairing, but I've seen a lot of bikes that the leather covered would compliment very well.

While I've been paying attention to most of the posts here, I'm not sure what the gear conversion kits are.  If they are kits to replace the straight cut 5th gears, I understand.

Now that I've mention the "infamous" 5th gear rattle etc., I'll have to say that with just 1000 miles on my new '08 SERK, I really don't hear any on mine.  When I was Hawaii last August I rented a '07 EG and that thing scared my wife with all the noise it made in 5th.

So I'm happy with my "lack" of noise so far.

Anyway, what are the kits?

I too am looking for something other than the stabilizers that hang down below the frame.  It sounds like the new rear mounted one may be just the ticket.

Thanks for the information.

What I'm looking at raises the gear ratio to make it work better with the trans in the bike. The picture says 06-07 bikes however I thought they said 08's also.

And the clutch gear change brings it to 1.44 instead if 1.533 with the engine gear change. Results in about a 500 RPM increase compared to the current primary gearing. It will affect your top speed, but give you more down low. The ring/clutch gear setup looks very well made to. These guys at Evolution seem to really have their act together.

Thanks for the clarification on the gears.

I think we've talked about that before.  There's a web site someplace with that gear and chain set on it.

I think the concern came up that there is no compensator with this conversion and with the lower rpms we tend to run compared to the V-Rod it might be an issue.

I agree it would get us that little extra kick off the line double up and also let the 6th gear become a little more useable.

Thanks again for the reply.

That's the idea behind the clutch gear change Dan. A little milder gear change to 1.44 (it's 1.5333 with the comp gear change) and you get to keep your stock compensator in the process. Supposed to be a much stronger ring gear too. I'm thinking about trying it down the road. ;)
