A little afternoon motivator...
Check this out, an Iraqi advisor, performing what I think is a good old fashioned American style, all male platoon formation, where he is getting his message across about the mission, with a translator, and some words that would be interesting to translate I'm sure.
We've all been in these formations, either conducted them ourselves (guilty) or been on the receiving end (many times). Kind of a "right of passage" don't you think?
You'll need to click the link below, and if you are still in the office use headphones if you've got them, or lean forward into your speakers with them turned down low!!!
No kidding Hooah!
You have to have been in the Army (or the Corps) to understand and appreciate this guy's presentation of facts!

sadly that is not the way to motivate them... Arabs have a different take on things, and belitteling them does nothing
There is a reason that the 1st and 7th IA Divisions are the best forces in Iraq, we mentor them - and lead with them.
I was the Iraqi Security Forces coordinator for all of Anbar in 07 and 08 - so I learned quite a bit about this/them. They will either leave or frag this guy before he will motivate them by yelling and intimidation. 12 Pillars of Islam - best source of information about how to best deal with them - should be required reading. There is also a reason that the Marines are the COIN lead in Afghanistan now and why we settled Anbar as we did, we wrote the Small Wars Manual and have been doing counter insurgency for 200 years.
Your not gonna scare those IP - they have been through much worse then "having their asses kicked". That guy should have been punished - and a Marine would have been - I have a friend up for a General CM right now for doing the wrong thing. General Mattis had it right- No Better Friend, No Worst Enemy. When things are kinetic, there is nothing going to come out alive - but when it comes to Phase V stuff, we do it really well. Vietnam and our integration with the South Vietnamese, the Philippines Insurrection, Haiti - the Marines are really good at this.
My .02 after three tours in that part of the world
