Keep it cool!
« on: February 06, 2008, 08:17:17 PM »

I read a thread on this site a couple of months ago that showed a bunch of photos of member's bikes with this really cool (no pun intended) looking fan made by LeNale.

I just did a search for it and can't find where to purchase one.

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Here's the cooling fan that actually works better than Harley's and is smaller and cheaper.  LeNale Eng. uses Ebay to retail the fan, but it's still new and shipped immediately.  I bought the complete kit with a horn for $229 plus $1 for shipping:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction... Ebay no longer has this product listed.

I was wondering if you have heard of any H-D dealers carrying this LeNale fan?

Being from Ontario, having things shipped across the border is usually a pain and makes the item quite a bit more expensive.  Seeing that I'm heading south to Florida or at least Georgia soon, I could drop into a dealership and pick one up on the way.  Just wondering.

One more question.  Is the horn just as loud as the stock horns, and is the fan very loud when running?  I know that's 2 questions, but I put them in one sentence.

Thanks!

I have heard that the horn was like an import beep beep horn. It is very small because there isn't much space for it beneath the fan. That alone is the major reason I have decided to pass. I want a loud horn.

Try the link posted by "screamin" above, it might work better for you.

Chief is right, the horn is small, it sounds like a Honda or Beetle horn.  It mounts under and out of sight below the fan.    You'll have to install another horn if you want it louder; there are some pics on the Ebay site of forward mounted horns.

I and my buddies have been run off the road numerous times regardless of the horn or our "gestures".  My buddies use large air horns and we've both been run off even when riding side by side and blaring our horns.  I therefore ride very defensively and don't count on the horn to save me.

I purchased my LeNale fan directly from my Harley Dealer in Annapolis MD. Another consideration is that LeNale also makes a fan that mounts directly over the premium oil cooler. I installed both (purchased from Annapolis HD). Those two items plus the heat shields make the CVO ridable in the heat of the summer. Also, the horn that comes with the fan is totally useless, sounds like a childs tricycle. I have not replaced it yet because I haven't figured out what and where a different horn would mount. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey There!

Our plans aren't all carved out yet, but sometime at the end of Feb or beginning of March...

Once we know for sure I'll be in touch and hopefully we can get together for a ride.

Thanks for mentioning it.

Take care,
Grizzly

Just remember Grizzly, Daytona is Feb 29 - Mar 9. I'm probably heading down the first weekend. If you are going down, then we could ride together. If not, I'll show you around here in Beaufort, SC.

llorddj, I purchased the Kuryakyn Electronic horn that mount behind the right saddlebag and the fender.  It is almost as loud as my air horns.  Will definitely get your attention.  I went with the Kuryakyn because I did not want remove my stock horns for the air horns.  I am thinking about putting the LeNale fan there.  Hope this helps.

Hey Milford,

You must have done a great job installing that Kuryakyn horn, 'cause it really is invisable!  Can't see it at all!

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it... In the meantime I would love to see where it is on your bike.

Go for the LeNale fan... Looks awesome and works great.  I just can't go with their horn or I'll sound like the Road Runner going to the road.

Take care,
Grizzly
