Vance & Hines pro pipe 2 into 1
« on: February 07, 2008, 03:36:22 PM »

I had one of these systems on my 01 fatboy.  I loved the look, sound and performance.  Now, I have a stock 08' FLHTCUSE3; I hear from my local shops that a 2 into 1 is the best way to get the power out of this machine.  Any advice?  I do not mind the look of having only one pipe sticking out the back.  I aslo had a comp baffle in my older system amd I loved it.  The reason I ask is because a lot has changed since 01 and this is a different bike all together.

I'm not running one, but the D&D Fatcat with the quiet baffle is very popular and makes a lot of low-end power on the 110's.

I do have the Fat cat on my 110" & luv it. I had the V&H pro pipe on an 04 build and was happy with it as well. My tuner did recommend that I go the Fat Cats on the 110 & I took his advice as I did with the Pro pipe.

Hey, Nubby - welcome to the site from Illinois...  Just bought a set of D&D Fatcats myself...after much research, they seem to be the 2 into 1 of choice nowadays.  There are lots of good pipes out there though...  Vance and Hines, Bassani and Bubs makes good 2 into 1's also...

Thanks to all!  I appreciate the help.  I want to retain my warranty while still pulling as much juice out of my machine without losing any reliability.  Looks like the D&D 2-1 are a real hit.  Does anyone have a site where some dyno work has been posted?  I think I ma going to go with Intake, Pipe and computer just to start.  Again thanks for the replies and help.  I'll add pics later when I get home.  I travel a lot.

I have the Vance & Hines Pro Pipe on my SEEG.  Never again!  I had low miles on the exhaust system and the warranty time frame had just ran out when a triangle piece of the cone (where the end cap screws in) broke out of the exhaust.  No way to hold the end cap in.

I contacted Vance & Hines and showed them the receipt reflecting the mileage at the time it was installed and the mileage that it had at the time (seems like it was about 4k miles).  They wouldn't stand behind it.  It's happened to a couple others on this site also and V&H wouldn't stand behind theirs, either (do a search for Vance & Hines).

That's my experience.  You'll have to make your own conclusions.

My husband and I have virtually the same bike, but he runs the Fat Cats, but the way the loop is in the pipe, I can not get my leg over it without getting burned, so I run the Vance & Hines 2 into 1.  I am now at just shy of 40,000 miles on my second set.  The first set got very badly discolored, more my fault then the pipes fault, and now have the new double walled chrome pipes, and they look, sound and work great.

I had my Fat Cats on my 2000 FLTRSEI Road Glide.  After purchasing my CUSE3, I called the company and they told me that I only needed a transmission bracket to make the pipes work on my new bike. After a $35 purchase I installed them on the CUSE3, this 3 years old pipe still look new.  Burned my rainsuit on them put was able to clean it off and the pipes still looks good.  One of my best investment to go on the Harley.  Not to mention the increase in torque.  This pipe is worth ever dollar that I paid.  LOL.

Thanks for the comment.  I came very close to buying Preston (PHAZE) "Autumn Haze" bike, which had about $3000 to $4000 in extras.  I would have had more money in the bank had I made that deal. "Autumn Haze" is still one of my favorite CUSE.  Milford.

Yep, looks like I'm going to a D&D 2-1.  I will now start my search for the website with the least expensive.  Anyone know what's out there for price?  I've only seen e-bay @ $599 + shipping.

Next question, what type of intake is the best?  i'm leaning toward either an arlen ness stage 2 or Doherty power pac.  Any advice would be great!

hafbad0--love the color too!  Mine is white but, I did want the red.  I really like the side bag bumpers and the tour pak spoiler!

I have had the V&H Pro Pipe for many years, looking to change due to the fact that I can blow what little packing (Sound suppression) they use in about an hour, and after 600 miles in a day with the pipe blaring in my ear is enough.

Have narrowed down to the D&D Fatcat with quite baffle, Supertrapp Supermeg 2:1.

And as an experiment and to save money I am going to mount a White Brothers E Series 2:1 Muffler on my V&H Pro Pipe Header/collector. and put on to the geezerglide 04 SEEG. will find out how it sounds and performs on my way to Sedona from Phoenix.
