is there a water cooled bagger comming
« on: February 14, 2008, 08:47:42 AM »

i was at the v twin show in cinniatia two weeks ago. lots of talk about a liquid cooled bagger.i do want to note lots of v-rod interest also. my thoughts. the best thing to happen was the twin cam, look at this as dealer point of view, they sold a bike, parts dept. sold 95 kits and cam kit. service got to install kit. the dealership department all made money. if it was not for 95 kits installs, the service department would of had slim times for the past 8 years. i wonder if the same will happen with the watercooled bike. if it is a v-rod base engine, i do not see performance work happening, due to removing engine to enhance the engine, my thought a liquid cooled push rod engine, where top end can be removed. or maybe the issues with EPA and carb there will be no performance enhancements. just some thoughts charlie

Seems like they are following suit with the 96in motor and the 103in upgrade.  I heard a rumor that it'll be a road glide with the radiators in the fairing.

Yeah, as soon as you whack the fairing in the garage- as most RG fairings get whacked- you've got a water leak!  At least it will clean up off the garage floor easier than the oil leaks of the 110!!!

Saw something similar in Macon, GA a couple of years ago.  Not exactly the same.

Thats what I thought...They just need to punch up the cubes on the V maybe to 2 liters or so.

I would consider one.

I could live wiwth the engine and performance but they need to get a more traditional frame look for my taste.

The "air cooled" purists fought water boarding at Porsche too, but the water cooled cars out perform the air cooleds hands down in many ways.

The time will come, I hope I am around and able to try one when it does.  At least if it comes in the next 5 to ten years I'll most likely be on one.

I agree, the V-Glides/V-Rods don't have enough leg room for two up. It needs to be a completely new, traditional look frame that's spread out more for longer touring. My V-Rod is great alone but a little too cramped for two.

I heard thats why they moved the top motor mount out in front of the motor to squeeze a V-Rod motor in a touring frame.

Makes sense, it has to be coming.

I heard "rumors" from one of the local dealers that HD has been working on a concept full-blown tourer, with an 1800cc water-cooled mill in it.  Supposedly, it's not on a V-Rod frame, but an FL-type.   :nixweiss:  I think it's just a matter of time myself.
