08 six gallon tanks milage etc.
« on: February 14, 2008, 11:20:27 PM »

I have a FLHRSE4 and I have never put in more than 5 gallons of gas. I have over 5K on the bike and I am curious about what others have found with their bikes. The gas gauge never hits full more like 7/8 or so... I do get miles remaining and that seems fairly accurate, but I am not really willing to run out of gas to find out... My mileage is mid 30's on mixed riding surface/some highway and low 40's highway - the bike is stock. Again wondering what other people are getting. Thanks in advance - TIA!

You don't have to worry about running out of gas, your low fuel light will come on and you'll still have better than twenty miles on it at that point.  At least..........I've gone another twenty miles after my low fuel light came on.

So how many mile are you guys getting to a tank on those five gallon tanks?

You shoud know it's against the CVO owner's creed to leave your bike stock. :huepfenlol2:  Just funnin with ya.....I think there are a couple of stock bikes here. :2vrolijk_21:  But if you change the air cleaner and exhaust, you'll notice your mileage increase a bit.

I'll fill up at 160 miles.  It usually takes 4-4.5 gallons around 35 mpg.

Yea, but it's damn fun when you're riding by yourself, huh Dave?

When I'm doing the long hauls there are many times when I wished I'd have one more gallon.

This is why I started this thread - I get about 160 when commuting. I have not done a big trip where I am doing 5-600 miles a day yet....

I am just very happy with the stock performance a little worried about heat and not ready to mess with things yet. Besides there are about 10 different fuel management devices to choose from and about 4 or 5 that I would consider and some are not available yet..... thundermax

Yeah me too.  If we poke around on 2 lane roads I can get about 40, but its usually around 35 mpg & 4.5 gls @ 160 miles.

I seem to be getting right around 42 mpg in mixed riding. Mine seems to be getting a little better now than when stock. I was around 38 / 40 mpg then. FWIW

The best I've ever gotten was just under 230mi on my '07 SEUC, it was fairly new, (no leaks) & totally stock.

Now with over 9K on her, RH Tru-duals, Zippers TMAT & Ness A/C (and several oil leaks) I'm usually filling around 175-180 if I'm being resonably fair on the throttle...
