SERT Revisions
« on: February 18, 2008, 01:54:50 PM »

How important are the revisions on the (older) SERT?   Seems to have been updated so frequently.......  Do the revisions change anything meaningful, or do they just add support for newer bikes?  If so, what would be the lowest revision that I could use on my 07 Cuse2?

07's came out with version 4.50, but this release broke the compression releases.   I would not use lower than 4.62, but would tell you to use 4.77 which is the fix for 4.76 if you have it.   The reason is if you have a map made and it is with newer software you wont be able to load it or reload it with older software.   the other thing to consider was Harley changed some maps after first release with the hot running motors and those changes would be seen in 4.62 and later revisions.

Again I strongly recommend using the latest greatest to reduce the possible number of issues that could be found.   The oemconfig file tells you what they changed at a marcro level, but generally does not do so at a code level.

I didn't mean the software, Harry - the SERT itself.  You know, the letter at the end (Last was L if I remember correctly)

I have a really old box with latest software and have no issues.   Not sure how much that helps you, but I want to say mine was like version F or G (box).

Just that the earlier the revision, the cheaper they are on ebay, so I thought if I could use the latest software, I'd be as well saving a bit and getting an older one. Goodness knows what all these (frequent) revisions did....

Jim's post about re-programming SERT so it could be used again on another ECM got me to wondering if I'd saved the dongle from my '06 bike which was wrecked.  Found it and compared it to the dongle I bought last year for my '07 jester.  As far as I know nothing really changes about the dongle with the various revisions - just the software and data files are updated.  But as you can see in the photo the dongle on the left dated 01-09-06 is smaller than the one on the right dated 05-30-07 even though they both have the same p/n 32114-01A.   :nixweiss:

Jim

TTS (The Turbo Shop) is the supplier and the brains behind the familiar SERT. Here is the Mastertune Interface. Look familiar?

Starting next month, TTS will be offering the SERT, with upgrades not allowed by HD, for sale. No details yet as things are still being worked out. I don't know how the divorce with HD will affect the new product, meaning will current SERT users be able to upgrade to the upgraded product. Legal things ya know.

SERT Maps can be found here.

Interesting stuff, Chiefy! Wonder 1) how their price will compare to HD's 2) if their device will be tied to one ECM in the same way....

Both good questions Jim. we'll have to wait until next month to find out. If I were a betting man, I'd go with one module/ECM, since nothing is mounted on the bike like the Power Commander.

At least we can hope that their price will be better.  One less profit center you know, and the moco sure does know how to make a big profit on everything it sells.

One can hope, but I'm not too hopeful we'll see much of a drop. The prices on the website are right up there with other auto tuners, so I'd guess we'll see something in the $400 to $500 range.

Lets just hope the latest and greatest software that TTS puts our will retro work?? in our older HD SERT's.
I have read that TTS has several features it wanted HD to release but Mother said no!!!

Not sure what kind of features I would like to see because I have NO IDEA how to work with the damn thing even now!!
I understand V4.77 allows CLB front and rear adjustment independantly of one another?  (might be a good thing :-\)

I asked that specific question and did not get an answer. I guess the divorce isn't finalized and that may be one of the items being discussed.

I'm also real interested to find out what changes will be made. We should know in a month or so. :)
