I wouldn't think the color is known at the time the frame is being built. I would expect the quality to be consistent across all lines. They don't give a chit regardless what frame they're building.

:indian_chief:

Yeah, you've got a point there, I guess they wouldn't.  Next time I see a SERK I'm going to have to see if the thing looks as lousy as the photos you posted of your original frame.  The painted frames always look prettier, but maybe the lighter/metallic colors just hide a bunch of that.

Cool man. The hardest part is deciding to do it. Once you make that leap the fun and excitement begins. :bananarock: I hope you come up with something really cool. :) Remember  :worthless:

I want to check one out too. It would be nice if they did do something, but my 1999 FLHTC was the same way, so it looks like nothing has changed in 8 years. :)

Thanks Don. I think there is definitely a difference in the front lug of the case. Look at how much more meat is in front of the washer on mine and the washer on yours hangs over the edge.

I see that.  If we're correct in the assumption that the OD of the two washers are the same then the toe of your case is much larger.  If so the bolt hole itself is going to be set far back from the edge of the casting.  You going to be brave enough to take a rotary grinding wheel to the front edge of the toe and gain some space?

I've also replaced the 3/8" stock hardware with 7/16" with larger washers than stock. The stock washer is 0.810" and the one I'm using is 0.990". Even with the increased radius of 0.090", the washer on yours is hanging over the edge of the front case lug.

Now, the question of the day. Do I want to mill the case to make it fit?  :nixweiss:

They sure are pretty pieces. CRAP!!! I hate this.

Here's a shot with the stock stabilizer. This looks like yours with the VR.

With those differences skewing the visual comparison the toe of your case is MUCH larger than the 05 case on mine.

There is approximately the same free space between the stock link and the case with your case as there is between the fat stabilizer and the case on mine.  So, how's it feel to be guinea pigging even more than you expected?
