If only every Boss was this straight forward

It's not often someone publically says it like it is.  Cudos for this guy speaking his mind.  If I was the cops family, I would appreciate the effort and likely the risk this guy took in speaking up.

Hopefully morale in the department went up a bit and the family got a sense of support at a bad time.  San Francisco politics is an unusual animal though.  Not sure highlighting judicial leniency will be there best tactic though.  Might just help get the guy reelected.

If it wasn't recent are you aware of any follow-on history?  Did the department make good it's promise to highlight the judge(s) in question?  Did it do any good?  Did the talking head later run for some office himself?

I'd love to work for a Chief like this guy. He put his officers first. He'll probably lose his job first chance they get to can him but if I was him, I wouldn't care. Too much politics in the job now days! Politically correct bs is ruining the country.

This is not how it happened when my friend was gunned down on the job.

Yep! Got to have it fare both ways, when a Cop does something wrong they get on them right away. But we always here about these people committing crimes that shouldn't be out on the street in the first place. Judges need to be held accountable too, both ways. There is one in our area and a DA that are in trouble because they ignored, or didn't allow evidence that would have shown that a 18 year old didn't commit a a rape/murder. Now after over 9 years in prison, DNA proved that he didn't do it, and now after reviewing the evidence and withheld evidence they think he would have never been convicted if the jury had heard everything.

All I can say is those that haven't been involved in the court system think things are done correctly almost all the time, but that's not the case going both ways!
