Things must be different here in Ca. Checking online quotes from Alstate, Farmers, State Farm, Formost, Progressive etc., all want an estimated annual mileage and add on values, To which the price increases dramatically as the mileage and add ons increase.

'nother reason to move.  I occasionally catch an episode of "Flip that house" when my wife has it on.  It's amazing that a gutted 800 sq ft flat with no laundry or parking goes for almost a $mil in some parts of Ca.!  I hope it's not the norm.

I pay around 300.00 for an 02 road king and about 400.00 for an 06 street glide in CA through Allied. I have the 100/300 coverage with 500.00 deduc. Glad I read this thread, I don't have any coverage for everything I've added to the street glide......10,000. and then some. Guess I better call my agent and see what its going to cost to cover my a$$. I knew their was a reason I was OK with the amount for my ins..... under insured in a big way.... :(  I would rather spend $$ on things I like instead of chit I have to have...... :nixweiss: Thanks again to member for starting this thread...... one more benefit to being a part of....Thanks to All  :2vrolijk_21:  Jon

My boss is a venture capitalist and donated one of his houses to a foundation he started for inner city kids private free schools. The house (on 17 mile drive in Pebble Beach ca) sold for 22 MILLION, 8 years ago. The amazing thing is, the guy who bought it leveled it and spent 2 years building a new house . He just bought it for the "dirt", 3 1/2 acres on one of the fairways on Carmel beach.

Thats what I like about this forum, sometimes what seems like a dumb question or comment morphs into informative thread for others too. I think that's why I like to lurk and search more than post, makes me feel smarter for not posting ALL my dumb questions.

I used to have Farmers and then moved to Country Insurance about 5 years ago. Seems the rates kept bumping so I figured I'd make a list of everything and send a fax out to the top 10 names with local agents. Just for grins I called Geico and Progressive too.  I was kind of shocked. Country had my bike around $425. Geico and Progressive both wanted over $500 - one of them pushing $600. Out of everyone, Allstate had the best rates by far at around $280. Better yet, the quote for my house, cars, camper, etc were all cheaper too. I moved everything and saved a nice chunk of change.

Seems like you Easterners get to pay less. Did you have to list your annual millage? Total cost of add ons?

No, Progressive did not require that I list any estimated mileage. All I said was that I use the bikes for pleasure.

Went to Progressive online quote for same coverage you stated for; flhtcuse2, 07 flhx, '00 honda xr400 and they wanted millage - listed 10,000 annually ea. (except for xr400), listed $3G ea in extras (no xr), listed my lady with 4 yrs. exp and me 36 yrs, They would only list um property damage @$3500.00, otherwise everything was the same as you listed. They quoted me, get this,

$3,200.00 a year   w/ no accidents, tickets  WTF???

trapperdog, those prices are crazy. Have you tried to call them on the telephone and get a quote? When I figured out the online quote, I got the same high quote like you did. Here are the costs for my other bikes:
The CVO Springer w/ 3K in modifications - ($491) - no extra charge for the modifications
06' RKC w/ 18K in modifications - $490 - includes $140 annual charge for the modifications
07' Low Rider w/ 7K in modifications - $388 - includes $38 annual charge for the modifications
00' Yamaha 535 w/ no modifications - $108
Total Annual Insurance for the 4 bikes $1477
It didn't cost any extra for my wife to be added to the policy even though she has only rode the Yamaha so far.

2007 HD full coverage with $250.00 deductible collision and roadside assistance is $224.00 per year.
1977 HD no collision, same coverage is $64.00 per yr.
2007 Suzuki same coverage as the 07 HD is $170.00 per yr.
This is with Progressive. It only includes $1,000.00 for accessory coverage. No mileage statement. I get a discount for being a homeowner and multi vehicle discount. This is the bikes only.  The cars and house are with travelers. No accidents and I am 58 years old. The age makes a bigger difference than I thought.

At what age does it start going up again?  There's a reason we don't see 90 year old HD riders.
