Mud, sawdust, bubblegum and bailing wire...........Hmmm, are those considered shop stock or are they covered under the MOCO warranty?  :nixweiss:  :orange: :apple: :pineapple:

Warranty would require calling the motor company, filing an incident report with the national service rep and hoping you don't have to kiss their ***.  In other words a lot like some of the other warranty handling has been in the past.

Would that bubblegum be -7A , -7B, or the elusive -7C version.  :nixweiss: Dealer called yesterday to say he had replaced both head gaskets with  - 7A gaskets. Should  I be concerned, annoyed or be looking at Double bubble?  :(

Mud, sawdust, bubblegum and bailing wire.  Add a torch, a big hammer and some duct tape and I think you've literally got the ability to fix anything in the world (that's not female).

That's cause us females don't need fixing

Has anyone considered JB Weld yet?  ::)

BTW, as for the question about using Cometic gaskets, it's been looking for a while now like this issue really isn't about poor head gasket quality.  There is obviously a serious issue with the unique combination of parts on the 110, since the .060" larger bore 113 doesn't appear to have a head gasket issue, nor do the 88/96/103 versions.  Perhaps if the MoCo were to try the 113 cylinder casting with a 4.000" sleeve?  Or even the aforementioned JB Weld.  Try something other than more head gaskets at least.  You would think with all the bad press they're getting over this that they would be trying one hell of a lot harder to solve the problem.  What's it been now, about 18-20 months?

Dear H-D, the cheap fixes aren't fixing anything.  Get your heads out of your azzes and spend what is required to fix this screwup before you piss off half your loyal customers.  In case you haven't been paying attention, the motorcycle market is in a downturn and the economy in general is sliding toward the abyss.  This is not a good time to piss off customers, especially the ones with $40k to burn.

The parts are just junk for min 90-100 HP, which is what most people do. Chinese pressed cranks, roller bottom end circa 1954, experimental top end as an afterthought about what to put in the CVO's last year. This engine just ain't designed strong or well enough to power these flagship bikes. And they don't care. Just treat us like idiots instead. FTF and FTW! Blow em off and do it your own way. You certainly can't do any worse than they have! >:(

I'm finding it difficult to believe that no one has responded to this after 2+ days.  Either everyone else missed it, or we have a bunch of weenies on this site who are afraid to make a comment.  :nixweiss:

Mrs. We, while your statement definitely applies to you personally, I suspect there may be a few females who could use at least a "tuneup", if not a complete overhaul.  After all, let's not forget who got whom thrown out of the garden, way back when.

I'm not a weenie, I'm simply afraid of my wife. I'm man enough to admit I'm ____whipped. I'd rather have my toenails jerked out one at a time than to get on her badside.

Sorry for the  :jack: - you reminded me of a true story.

We were sitting in a bar / pub / club - base only folks could drink beer in a back room of the bowling alley on SHAPE Belgium base some 10 - 15 years ago.  A woman stepped into establishement and YELLED - "Henry - We Are Going HOME NOW!!!!!"

Twenty men stood up and started out of the club.

Didn't matter that they were not Henry nor did this woman have any attachment to them, the all just got up, paid bills, slirped the last of their beers and left.

I have sent this to a couple of owners, but maybe the word isn't getting out yet.  I had a rear cylinder oil leak at the bottome of the cylinder, My friend is a Harley tech and a very good one. He looked at it and thought it was just the gasket, then found another small oil leak at the top gasket. It was due for service and under warranty so he said he would take care of it when I took the bike in. He pulled it apart and found that the rear cylinder sleeve was loose. His best guess is that the pistons vibrate to much, which cause the cylinder sleeves to come loose on the touring models as they already have more vibration that the softail models. There were more bikes waiting to be worked on for GASKETS, but now they now the real problem. They replaced the cylinders and pistons under warranty, but then I realized they were just putting in they same thing which are defective. Got a couple of techs together and asked what will happen if the sleeves come completely loose. Of course the ansewer is your engine will lock up as you will blow all the gaskets and if the sleeve comes loose on the down stroke you will have a major engine failure. So if you are riding and passing a big rig into oncoming traffic and it happens you are most likely deceased.  There was a band new 2008 SE Ultra , just taken out of the crate that was already leaking when they started it up. NO recall from Harley, no service bulletin, no notifying current owners and they are still selling these bikes to unsuspecting customers. I talked to the Dealer owner, ansewer, we will keep on fixing them as long as they are under warranty, no we won't give you the 113 set up unless you pay for it, suggested I buy the extended service plan to keep on covering the problem, nobody has been killed yet, so Harley won't recall all the bikes and be stuck with them. Great,. So the problem isn't the gaskets that a lot of dealers are saying it is as they are unaware of the cylinder sleeves coming loose and are just replacing gaskets.
