I don't think this topic has been started and I thought it would be great to brag on our offspring.
This is a pic of my youngest son, Jeremy, and myself. Jeremy has enlisted is the U.S. Army,
Cavalry Scouts. Jeremy left for basic training two weeks ago. I talked to him a couple of times since he left and he likes it. Go figure.
Proud and sad at the same time.

Congrats on the "newbie"!  Does he know what unit is he going to?  Mine son is currently with 101st out of Ft. Campbell.  He's currently on his 3rd tour in the sandbox.  At least this time he's back in the same part of Iraq he was in the last time, so he knows the area and can lead patrols much more effectively.  Be proud of him and I thank him for his service!

He's with Charlie with 3/187 Infantry Regiment, 3BCT.  They're currently attached to Delta Company, who's treating them like bastard step children.  They're the last ones to get anything, including mail.  I've sent several packages since he went in the end of September, including some from Australia when we were there in November, most arrived in January!  Even getting supplies has been the sh$t for them.  Hopefully, the Army will get it's head out of it's a$$ and square away some of the middle and higher officer ranks.  They REALLY SUCK currently!  Most of the juniors don't know enough to do anything, but when they see the upper levels flat out crapping on the line troops, they think that's how it's supposed to be done.

in any event, i hope that situation gets better for him and his folks. and soon

thanks to him for his service also...three tours is more than we should ask of these young men in such a short time frame
