Bub Seven 2:1 Exhaust, Has anyone tried them?
« on: February 28, 2008, 12:38:18 AM »

Tried search, not many results.

So, I'll ask, has anyone tried the Bub Seven 2:1 Exhaust system on a SE 103 Engine with headwork and set a 590 set of cams?

TIA,

Leo, if you're still shopping and haven't yet purchased here is one comparison.  My 103 just finished a change to something similar.  Slightly larger bore to 107, better heads and 598 cam with 50mm tb.  Exhaust is FatCat 2-1 rather than Bub.  Dyno reported hp in the mid 120s and tq at 119 with tq in nice and early.  Final numbers may actually be just a tiny bit better as the clutch was slipping a bit on the dyno.

Twolane,

Thanks for the tip. What about the larger diameter D&D Boarzialla?

Also, anyone have a used 2:1 exhaust set up for sale? Am not looking for Pro Pipe as i already have a couple of sets.

Spoke with tech reps at D&D on three or four occasions before purchasing with different questions.  One consistent answer from them and a couple of very competent tuners was that that the Boarzilla was the right animal only for a much larger build.

I have an 07 110" with Headquarters heads &  575 cams & speaking with D&D before purchase they advised that the Boarzilla's are only suited for builds of at least 117" I'm quite happy with the setup I have.

How about a Thunder header? I have one at the shop that was on AK's bike for about 1000 miles. I took it off for the new Yuill Bros exhaust. AK was looking for about $400 for it complete with heat shields. PM me or him if interested

hd-dude,

I was considering the Thunderheader, however everyone I know who had one replaced with other 2:1, most complained of them being to loud. I have run with the V&H Pro Pipe and have blown out the packing, which of course their is not much of and after 600 mile days found to loud, looking for performance and not too loud.

thanks for the offer,

I just finished installing Bub 7 headers and muffler, replacing the V&H Short Shots. I am impressed with the sounds and the quality of the materials used. I also think that when I installed it, the fit was spot on. Next comes the remap.
I still need to tighten up my air filter at proper angle :nixweiss:

I spoke with Leonard at D&D as well. he told me the same thing. as well as everyone seems to repeat that also.
I didnt think it would be as bad as everyone let on. it turned out better than I thought it would.
my bike ,Fatcat QB  vs ZILLA QB, 106 ci S&S HQ 575 cams big boyz heads. not really a big build. 185-190 ccp
here is the result.
blue FC red Zilla. Zilla is loud for sure.
I am going to be testing a new 2-1 in a few weeks. should prove to make a little more than a zilla and can be quiet if you want.

EDIT: The Bub 2-1 touring does pretty well.

Im considering the Bassani Road Rage II- equal length 3 step header, cool looking end cap, falsee pipe comes out soon- IMO, nice looks and sound, and is bound to perform as good or better than D&D and the others.

Fast forward to March 2011, a year ago (Feb 2010) bought a 2010 CVO ULTR came with Rhinehart True Dual and Rhinehart Slip Ons, did not like that set up, Added the Full Sac X Pipe and V&H HI Output Slip Ons, was not crazy about the V&H Hi Output Slip Ons. ended up putting a set of Full Sac Baffles forgot size into a stock set of HD Mufflers off of a 2010 CVO Street Glide. like the sounds of the bike and some where I have the dyno and it was  HP 109.13 and 111.12 TQ, includes SE 259 Cams, V&H Hi Output, SE Ventilator AC, HD SERT.
