Ok, I currently am running the Super Trapp SE slipons on my 07 SERK. They sound too "hammery" or sharp for me, especially on sustained runs at 75-80 mph down the highway. Therefore I am looking for a deeper, richer, less obnoxious sound. Can anyone tell me which of the above (D&D's w/quiet baffle or the new Bub 7's) would probably have that deep rumble - not too loud of an exhaust note? I want to be fairly certain (between the cost of the pipes and 4hrs of dyno time @ Durango HD I am looking at $1000)! Already have the SERT. Does 4 hrs of time (as quoted by the dealer) to dyno tune the bike sound resonable? Thanks.
Four hours of dyno time might be a bit much for just changing pipes. You might ask why so many hours, what's being done. Here are some things you want to know ahead of time too.
- Warm up runs, bike should be warmed up on the dyno, get all the fluids warm, then base line until numbers from two runs are about the same.
- What Gear do they test in? TQ and HP will be higher in 5th gear, vs 4th gear.
- What if any error correction are they using, if any. Standard is SAE correction 5.
- The dyno should be equipped with an Autologic 5-gas Exhaust Gas Analyzer (EGA) to measure NOx, %CO, %CO2, HC (PPM), %O2, Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) instruments.
After the dyno, on you dyno sheet hp and tq lines cross at 5250rpm. If they do not, the scaling may be off (though the "max values" in the description should be accurate).
