I've been home a day now and now I can process in my head what I saw. I bailed out of Daytona a little early, Saturday at 6:30. I made it back to PA in 15 1/2 hours keeping a steady pace (in the truck towing six bikes).
The weather Friday was horrible. My rain gear did a great job however visibility was dismal at best. My riding buddy did not feel the love for the bad weather so it ended up being a short day out and about. Saturday was considerably warmer but windy. Out on the Interstate the wind gusts would want to move you a half a lane. I had enough of that and resorted to the side roads, what a mistake that was. Aside from the flooding the debris was strewn about. I was an exercise in dodging and weaving.
Overall I thought the event was down compared to past events. The first part of the week had us rolling into just about any place and sitting right down. Thursday I noticed the crowds growing. Obviously the rain wreaked havoc on Friday. Saturday was definitely the busiest of all the days that I was there (8 days). I left before seeing the night life Saturday however I imagine everything was busy.
I enjoyed the trip even though the weather was not ideal. I hauled bikes down this trip as a "Hired hauler" and I wasn't sure what to expect with the dropping off and picking up of the bikes. That went unbelievably well. Enough so that I ordered a larger enclosed trailer while at the event! I should have it in about 5-6 weeks.
I didn't get but about 500 pictures this year. I'll get them loaded to Photobucket and in the gallery and than post the link.
I didn't get to hook up with any members from the various forums as the weather had me darting in and out of the rain. Sorry guys.
Ohh and the good news, My Bagger got shot for
Hot Bike Baggers. I did my best to represent the Road Glide riders. I ended the photo shoot with a 6000 rpm pavement scorching burnout.
