Paint is not an issue, but if you haven't ridden with a hack before..........definitely try it first. Here's a pic of a SERK with sidecar that was for sale a while back. I mean why not just tow one of those trailer thingy's ?  :nixweiss: :trailer:

A hack without reverse can sometimes be a hassle ! Not personal experience, but from a rider in our local group with a HD sidecar mounted. Possibly the "no sidecar" warning in the manuals is similar to the  " do not exceed 10 lbs " on the HD racks! :nixweiss:

We looked at hacks before we bought our last trailer.  Drove one a little bit.  It's definitely a learned art!  One of our buddy's has a firefighter edition with a matching hack.  Looks really cool, but he keeps 100# of sand around for whenever he's going out without somebody in the hack seat.  Helps keep the wheel on the ground.  It will definitely fly on right turns.  It's really easy to flip one without any weight in the hack seat.  You're continually steering left, unless you want to go right.  Neat looking and they were probably great when you only had 25hp and top speed was 35 mph; but a major pia nowdays.  Still really cool seeing one going down the road, though!

Makes sense but hadn't considered that until you mentioned it John.  Quite frankly the greatest amount of sidecar experience I've ever had was watching them coming and go all the time on old episodes of Hogan's Heroes :nixweiss: .

Sidecars make burnouts easier. I've seen it done by a cow on a Bimmer with a hack. Great donuts.

i have a 07 ultra with a sidecar - once you remember to keep the tool bag in the sidecar and install a decent raked sidecar tree [like on the pre 84 bikes] 80 with the cruise on is just fine - the faster you are going the less tendency the sidecar has to come up - it will mostly only fly when going under 30.  the two big secrets to great handling with harley sidecars are the trees and tires - either keep the tires in good condition or run radials. [well and lowering it 2" helps]

ive seen some references that SE bikes cant run a sidecar - other wise all the touring bikes can - does anybody have any idea why?

I've got a 95 rk with 80 spoke rims and big white walls and beach bars that just sits in a corner - can't seem to drag myself from the SEEG or the FB...then there is the new springer chopper project that has my attention now!!! However - anybody lookin at side hacks has to check out liberty - http://libertysidecars.com/ some sweet sweet craftsmanship and just what I want on my RK sooner or later. Also - as mentioned above the trees are key - and liberty has those trees - I don't know the hows or whys but apparently the trees are key - so check these guys out.

I've never driven a bike with a hack so I don't know how much effort is required to keep it on an even keel. :nixweiss:

Apparently not much effort at all  :o

Ok, and this comes from someone who has done some pretty stupid things (so I know whereof I speak), but that's just stupid.

I mean why not just tow one of those trailer thingy's ?  :nixweiss: :trailer:

For the same reasons some people have trailers for the bikes.

My brother has 3 bikes, 2 Sporty's and an older EG with a sidecar. He has a severely handicapped son who's greatest pleasure is going for rides.
Because of his physical condition and and the amount of "stuff" he requires, a sidecar was the only way to enjoy biking with him.
My brother has envied the 05 red SEEG before I even got mine but financially is way out the question. Those without handicapped children have no idea on the strain it puts on families.

But, there is no doubt, if I hit a windfall tomorrow, I would find a 05 SEEG, red of course, and have a sidecar installed and painted in SEEG colors for my brother. And of course a couple of CVOharley mods for good measure.
