TODAY'S UPDATE:

Quick and easy. Bottom end's back together! Top should go together today. If he stays on it straight. The bike might be done well before I thought!!! :2vrolijk_21: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

TODAY'S UPDATE:

HeHe!!! Thanks for asking Dan! The bottom end's back together. Barrels are recrosshatched. Vern's in the process of rebuilding the heads. He found shims under the springs (triples) he removed. He thinks there was some pretty heavy spring pressure going on, but didn't bother to check since it's water under the bridge now. He's using new S&S springs designed for use wih the S&S 585G cams. After the heads are rebuilt, the rest of the motor can go back together. I'm still expecting the motor to be completed this week, and hopefully installed next week, before the tin for the Hoist Bobber comes back from paint! ;)

Staying with the roller hardware on top?  Remember you mentioning at one time perhaps not but missed any discussion of it after that.

So the heads came back from CycleRa..... ah, never mind.

Staying with the same TP roller setup on top Don. There were no issues with the rocker boxes. The TP breather also puked, so I repiped it to the ground for the last build. The RB's will stay as before. And we won't get into that other thing again! ;)

Cam chest is back together. Top end is going on now. Everything except rocker box covers will be on today. Vern likes to let a motor sit a day or two, then check all fastener torque again before installing. You poor bastard.  If it's this close before the weekend you'll be bouncing off the walls all weekend long.  Super Bowl won't help you.  Still be random trajectory ballisting going bing, bing, bong, boing; bouncing around the house.

In fact I'm betting Vern has well learned his Howie lessons and is advising of big things a bit after the fact.  Just to keep your blood pressure down.  If he told you he's hoping to fire it on Monday I bet he hears it run tomorrow. 

Are they open on Saturday for you to touch it?  If so Binx will be a bike widow again at least half the weekend :huepfenlol2: .

You might just be right Don! Adam told me tonight thatthe motor was in the bike. Vern never said a word about it when I was on the phone with him at 5 tonight! He's sneaky that way and loves to surprise you. So I'm definitely heading over on Sat to see what's up! I'll be leaving next Fri to Cincy for the V-Twin Expo, returning Sun night. So it's either done during the next week, or I won't know what's going on til I get back! Either way, it's so close, I CAN TASTE IT!!! :2vrolijk_21: ;D :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

TODAY'S UPDATE:

Well Vern's been a menace putting Cybil back together. She's almost done. Gone as far as he can go I think, til he gets the alignment tool from DCFIREMANN next week. Mike's shipping it to him on Mon and he'll get it on Wed. Motor's in. Primary's all put back together. He left the tank and exhaust off until after the alignment is checked/adjusted. Let's see how good he did by eye, which is all he setup for right now. Seems like my baby will be back in business by the end of next week. I hope she enjoyed her vacation. I'd like to see her get more than a year out of it this time, even with my beatings on her! All my Vern built Evo's always did. And he built it HIS way this time, knowing how I (we) ride, with the intention of it holding together even under my ass and with my happy throttle hand! Next week should prove to be an exciting week I hope, especially if the Bobber's tin comes back from paint!!! :2vrolijk_21: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

That's great to read Howie.  From the limited experience I had with an alignment tool here the effort is probably worth the couple day's wait.  It's a difference between being pretty sure you've got it darn close and actually knowing it is nuts on.  For that why not wait if all it costs is a couple days you couldn't be riding it anyway?

Obvioulsy there'll be pictures of when it's alive again.  But how about an audio file of her first breaths of new life?  Isn't it about time you stepped up to a new mode for show and tell :huepfenlol2: ?
