While at Myrtle Beach today I stopped at the Vance & Hines trailer. They actually had a set of monster ovals on a Road King for our listening and viewing pleasure. Looked great!!!  At idle they sounded deeper and quieter than standard ovals. The "bark" was loud when he cranked the throttle up, louder than I thought they would be. Seems quieter but deep at steady rpm's above idle. Really hard to judge cruising sound level while a bike is sitting still. Salesman spoke of how they are the best for touring bike, performance wise. Hope this helps some.

xjackx,

Physically, do they appear a lot larger than the standard ovals?  What is your opinion on the looks?

Zeb, on the display board they looked HUGE. On the RK doesn't look that much bigger because the bags cover them. The design of the end cap, IMHO, tones down the size from the rear view. Hope this helps.

I was amazed to see that you were able to buy a set on eBay but in searching the completed acutions I see that Rob's Cycle Supply in Syracuse, NY had two sets listed.  One with chrome tips and the other with black.  So obviously a few sets are making their way to the distributors.  Mark at M&M still says he should be seeing some by the end of the month.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

I bought them from Robs cycle. I bought the chrome tip ones. They cost a few bucks more than M and M but, I wanted them so whats a few extra bucks anyway? I got them tuned in today and rode over 100 miles. I really like them. The sound is great, unlike anything else I have heard. I will try to get some pics.

RBFB,

They do look big.  What did you have on your bike before?  Give us some kind of comparison to other muffs like the standard ovals, etc.

Can't wait to get mine.

All I had before were the stock mufflers.
