FLHRSE4 Hard bags paint scheme
« on: March 18, 2008, 04:33:29 AM »

Has anybody installed hard bags on theirs yet. I have the bags ready to paint but I am unsure of how to do the design on the side of the bags. The 07's seemed fairly easy to decide what to do because the sides of the tank had flames, so you put flames on the sides of the bags. The big swoosh on the 08's tank requires a little more creativity coordinating it properly with the hard bags.
If anybody else has been thinking about hard bags, please share your ideas.

While I haven't gotten to hard bags yet, I did want to add a fairing for my 08 SERK.  To help prompt some ideas about hard bags, here is the final paint scheme I'm using for the fairing.

There has been several members who have put on hard bags and painted to match.  There are several threads about this in the SERK section.  Do a search and you can read all you want.

See, that's is what I mean. I'm not a fairing type of person but you did a great job on laying out the swoosh on the fairing.

I would still be staring at the blank fairing wondering how to do it. Good job.

Hope to see some hard bags soon.

I have read all of those, however I am looking for a member who has done hard bags specifically on a FLHRSE4.

MarkT very nice - and sorry to highjack but which faring is that and where did you relocate the signals to? I am also thinking about hard bags but have not thought about how to do the paint - maybe I need to play in photoshop - when I get back from vacation

The fairing is the Roadking Fairing from Corbin.  Also, great question because I was first going to move the turns (and add some passing lights) with the billet light mounting bracket (#69227-04) but found out that bracket doesn't fit with this fairing.  As such, Corbin provided (at no add'l cost) two flexible joints to lower and project the turns so they can be seen beyond the fairing and also not hit the gas tank.  Now if I could find someone who could tool and chrome me a bracket mount that fits with the Corbin fairing that also fits in the windshield mount (yes I know that Quadzillas do that but I liked the styling of the Corbin), I would be in heaven with this fairing although I do like it quite a bit.
