Orange Backlit LCD Oil Temp and Level Dipstick
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:35:09 PM »

Finally did something about that blue backlight that did not match anything.  It's amazing what a guy does sometimes to kill the boredom during the rainy season.

Hey Gary,

There are four small surface mount LED's that I replaced.  And I mean small.  A microscope operation.  I did it a few times to find the right color though.  The first two times it was VERY orange.  The third time I found the color that matches the instrumentation lighting.

The battery keeps dying. I put a new one in and it stays lit all the time & will not turn off & runs down the battery.

Does it stay lit forever or for about 5 minutes.  Maybe you are pushing the button twice by accident?  If not it must be broken.

Mine too. Mine cooked in Daytona last year. I have since put in the spun alluminum in the dash and did away with the air temp guage.

AJ,
Mine was doing the same thing until I found out that the edge of the button that is under the rubber cap was caught on the cover causing the button not to come back out all the way when it was pushed in.  I moved the button toward the center of the hole in the cap and it popped back out and the light went off after a couple of seconds.  I thought I had a broken one too, now I just make sure the button isn't getting caught under the opening that it sticks out of.   Hope this fixes yours.

Remove from bike, tosss in trash.  Put the one that does nothing in and Viola, no worries!

Yeah, another worthwhile investment in the trash.

Hello all: While we are on the topic of back lighting, I find the stereo screen on the Harmon Kardon a little tough to read.. Is there any way to brighten up the screen that I am not aware of?

Many thanks! Larry
