in case you all are interested. The illumination color is accomplished by colored plastic covers over the clear bulbs. Not sure if it same situation as this guy changing color on the oil temp gauge but this is how the MoCo does with the CVO instrument lighting. I'm sure a little expermitation with colored plastic covers which must be very pliable, will get you all sorts of colors and brightness. If you want to get an idea of material used, pull a bulb from one of your CVO instruments. O.K. now go play, or wait for a rainy day.
Good luck on this one.

That's good to know about the instrument panels.  I have seen the on the small gauges but is that the case for the speedo and tach?  I have not dived into them too deeply because I actually like the color.  But when I installed some SE gauges on my FXDL I did not see a place to get in there.

Anyway, so you know, this is not the case with the oil gauge.  The LED's look clear but they are actually colored.  They then shine through a white translucent material so the the color is evenly dispursed across the LCD.

I will be doing another one for a friend within the next week or so.  When I do that one I will take some photos and post them.  I had no intent on posting this here or I would have done it this time.

Nope...they are surface mount LED's on the speedo/tach.
No bulb condoms on those.
