Chief I made a run with mine yesterday, you leave the black box pluged in when you get to where you want to analyze, you push the red button on it, which starts the recording of 15 mins, you can push it and stop the recording and start it again, but you only have 15 mins of total record time. I let it run the full 15, rode the bike another 2 hours or so brought it back to the shop and hooked up and view the stored data. Its pretty neat gona make seat of the paints tuning nice  :2vrolijk_21:

That answers a lot, thanks. I didn't know if the recording was always happening, or was switchable. The switchable is the way to go.

If you turn it off and then back on, does it erase what was there, or just add to the end of the earlier recorded session? Hopefully it appends new data to old so you can selectively record what you want to capture and not a bunch of other stuff you don't want.

Sounds promising.

It seems better than the Twin Scan II I use, need to see if it will read other bikes, I dont think it will seeing how it marries its self to the ECM.

I have not tried turning it off and back on yet, I want to give that a try this week sometime

I too have the TSII+. What are the differences you like?

Well I have trouble with my TSII, it comes on late and some times stops recording, but it will work on any bike.

This was the first time I used the SE data collector, it came on when I pushed the button and I let it run until it timed out. Need to play with it more to see its full capabilities. I would like to plug it into my 06 Streetglide which has the old race tuner but Im affraid I my cross bread the two and end up letting the smoke out hehehe, which as you know the factory puts the smoke in them and they are the only ones that can put it back in if you let it out

I haven't had that problem, but the way it ships doesn't work well unless you live on a test track. I wound up running the hot wire to the Accessory plug so I could turn it on and off via the fairing switch. That one change made it much more useful. It would be nice if it held more data, but since it's switched, I can get a good amount of data stored.

I have found it very useful, but not perfect.

I guess I've been lucky that I've been able to keep the HD smoke in its initial container, not letting it out. Does it have an expiration date? Will I ever need to change my smoke?  :nixweiss:

Thats a good I ideal on the power wire, I wish they would put a memory card slot in them so more could be stored. I should send Steve a note while he is redoing the old race tuner, he was talking about a data record on the new version of the old version.

As to the smoke I dont think it exspires until you activate it

The last time I spoke to Chris at Daytona, I asked about a higher capacity TS. I don't remember the specifics, but the result was no.

SERT Data capability along with being able to read from two O2 sensors simultaneously, would make on-board tuning possible. That would make my Twin Scan useless and one less item needed.

Oh a onboard tuning system, like a touch screen on DVD player aaahhhhhh put 3 different programs in a cruse around town, a 2 up loaded, and a all out race all at the touch of your finger. Back to the future how about a Flux Capacitor 0 to 60 and hold on to the handle bars boys this is gona be one hell of a ride weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Of course that would be cool, but I should have been clearer. I'm thinking about incorporating the recording capabilities of the Twin Scan II+ (Two O2 sensors silmultaneously), into the new-old-SERT interface. The current SERT software is built around analyzing one cylinder at a time while adjusting VE's. Having the capability to record two sets of AFR data would speed things up.

Yes I gathered that was what you were talking about, it would be nice to see AFR for each cylinder and I would like to see the firing voltage for each spark plug and have a selection of how hard you would like them to fire, oh well everyone want something a little different. Ignition can be a weak link in performance and a hard problem to find.
