Our underwater world watch to the end
« on: March 23, 2008, 01:06:08 PM »

Some of us here may have seen these wonderful underwater creatures already, but I'm sure you all will enjoy just the same.

Howie, I have most of the "bio" creatures right here off the Jersey coast.

On a good night dive, no moon clear water, they are so thick you can actually read your gauges by the light they emit. And just as cool is watching divers below you as they swim, the little creatures glow as they are disturbed. Sometimes you can see the entire diver outline moving with the bluish green glow, really awesome.

Yes, mostly NJ wreck diving. Been doing it since the late 70's, work on and ran my own dive charter boats since the early 80's, stopped the charter in around 2002.

Excellent video Duane.
Love watching octopus change color as they move about.  Best shows are at night when many of the creatures come out to hunt and feed.
I have done a bunch of diving over the years and the most important thing is to slow down to really see.
Was diving in Belize in March '08 (25 dives in six days using a dive computer) and I brought a pen to point out the creatures that blend in so well to the environment.  Got some pretty good photos as well.  Just have to figure out how to reduce the size of them.
