New J&M Bluetooth Headset
« on: March 24, 2008, 11:47:13 PM »

I got a new J&M catalog this weekend. They have a new Bluetooth headset with a new profile that allows simultaneous transmission of both 2 channel stereo and mike signals with most bluetooth devices. This includes most cell phones and the Garmin Zumo. There's also an optional plug to tie into the bikes intercom and CB.

They also mention custom dongles for the Ultra Classic. With the custom dongle they will be able to tie in wireless to the bikes audio, intercom, and CB.

Sounds like what I'm looking for.

That's out now?  Thought the product wasn't supposed to hit the streets until May.

It says April 2008. They have part numbers and prices. $299.99 Thats for the generic mount. They say in late spring they'll have the integrated. Their picture of the integrated looks like a Nolan flip up.

They're new all stereo super fancy mode (SFM) helmet bluetooth module will come in a clip on variant for helmets generally and in a form factor to work in the N-Com socket on the Nolan helmets.  Would work with any of the N-Com helmets.

Everything I'd been reading the last few months suggested late April through late May as a likely release time also.  So that jives with what you saw.

Been trying to nail them down for a plug in for existing Nolan 102 s with existing headset wireups.
No luck so far. :nixweiss:

Their new wireless N-Com replacement modules are supposed to pair with a module/dongle that you'd plug in to the bikes headset socket.  You'd then have a wireless connection to your bike's complete suite of functions.

So Don, would this give me wireless intercom on the SEEG and wired usage on the SEUC?

Assuming Cindy has the set up too.

No.  The SEEG won't have intercom to begin with.  And no headset socket to plug the dongle in to.

It's just a bluetooth connection to whatever is out there to begin with.  The new difference is they've developed a bluetooth protocol (hopefully) that will allow all the Ultra's or the Wing's functions happen all at the same time; in stereo.

I'm interested in finding more about it on release even with the SEEG though.  Gaining stereo audio would be a benefit of the N-Com module.  Just a couple of years smarter software might be a benefit.  Also curious if there is any gains to be had in the mix with the Garmin unit, the phone, the helmet and potentially a bluetooth enabled radio head unit.

One tap on your left shoulder means she has to go to bathroom.

Two taps on your left shoulder means she's hungry.

Slap on the back of the helmet you are either going to fast, looking at something (chick) to long.

etc, etc.... :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

The friend I ride with most commonly got her own N-Com helmet.  Just the intercom hardware w/o the bluetooth module.  So intercom is a simple little one wire hook up she does from lid to lid.  It works perfectly.  She thought I'd be really happy that she got herself the helmet so we could talk more easily while riding......  :nixweiss:

We did that for awhile and then got the 2000 Ultra.  Damn technology.  Now she likes to talk on the bike.

Anyone who has riden behind us knows she also uses her hands a lot and therefore is directing riders behind us all over the place :huepfenlol2:

Once they figure out what's up they feel much more comfortable and usually pass us if possible.

Don, I see from another thread you put the HK in the SEEG, no CB intercom?

Yes, sure did.  Quite some time ago now.  But only the radio on mine.  Wanted to be able to add the XM.  Did it on another and added just about everything.  If memory serves PJ added about everything on his too.

Mine has worked flawlessly until a couple of nights ago.  Then no audio output.  Visually all is fine.  All displays are normal.  Don't know if it's an amp problem or a radio problem.  Not going to mess with it until after the Georgia run though.  If I want tunes on the trip the Garmin unit can play in to the helmet.  It's got several hundred songs I like and that's plenty.

Thought I'd bump this back up to see if the J&M custom dongle for plugging into the Ultra giving bluetooth access to all of the stereo, intercom and CB was available yet and working?
