The American Dream
« on: March 27, 2008, 01:51:28 PM »

Didn't write it, but thought it was pretty good, and not far off the mark for me. ;)

"WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

"My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom, Spain , Bulgaria ,Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.
THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hellholes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home.

On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.
Thirsting for a country to terrorize? Try France maybe China .

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France Germany and Russia. Thanks for all your help comrades. We are retireing from NATO as well. Bonne chance, mezamies.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and Limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world.
I love New York!

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2, it's president and the entire corrupt government need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra thousand tanks
and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put 'em? Yep, on border security.
Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn tootin."

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America .
To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you. We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America . Thank you and good night. "

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier."

Howie, did you enter this line on your own :nixweiss:

One thing I heard lately was to charge the foreign governments for each illegal that we send back home. And we should send all of them home. That would get their attention very quickly.

It's a great dream, but in the meantime, how about just loading up cargo planes with the illegal immigrants and just dropping them off in Iran or Iraq?  They probably have a switchblade in their back pocket to fight the diaper heads. :pepper:

Looks like typical American BS to me.  At some point the USA has to realize that they do not own the world.  It was their choice to go to Iraq and as it turned out it was a stupid choice.  You get what you vote for.

Moe,
We don't think we own the world....that's what the rest of the world thinks.  Unfortunately, the rest of the world has made us its policeman.  Whenever something goes wrong in the world, it's always why aren't the Americans doing something about it?   Maybe if the other countries would stand up and carry their own weight instead of depending on America to do it, then we wouldn't have to be involved.  But I don't see that ever happening...it's always easier to blame the good ole USofA for all the troubles in the world.  It's easy to sit back and talk and complain, but a lot harder to do something about it.

Not the time or place for Politics or country bashing - this is a CVO forum.  Rule 12 of the CVO site - Basically use common sense and be considerate courteous and respectful of other members - Bashing Canada, France etc when you know full well there are members of those countries who use the site daily is a kick in the crotch.

I know I should stay away from this (and I have for more than a full day now), but I just have to make at least one comment.

I totally agree that the USA should get out of the "world cop" mode and start dealing with the many domestic issues that have been allowed to fester over the past 20-30 years.  However, I don't believe bashing countries who failed to buy into the BS the Bush administration was peddling is a very productive attitude.  In fact, it just reinforces the image many have of the USA as the playground bully who demands total and blind support, the facts be damned.  It should be noted that back when Iraq invaded Kuwait, many (most?) of the countries on List #2 did in fact support the coalition.  Only when the situation changed from a response to a direct attack on an ally to an unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation did most of these countries balk at blindly following the Bush administrations lead.  I personally think more highly of those who stood up to the "bully" than those who just went along.

Oh, and the next time our leaders criticize another government for human rights policies, ask yourself about how our government has steadily eliminated spending for the basic social safety net programs while allowing the wealthy free rein with public assets.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel ashamed when I see our government throw the mentally ill out on the streets to become homeless, but then bail out the savings and loan crooks, and now the investment banking/hedge fund crooks.  The pendulum in this country has swung much too far to the right, and it is high time to start it swinging back toward the middle ground.
