Handlebar Controls-Any Suggestions?

Hey gang! In overhauling my '85 FXWG, I'm replacing all of the controls. I'm using PM Classic Series Forward Foot Controls/Master/Pegs. Not 100% sure what to do on the handlebars yet, which will be internally wired 10" W1's baby apes on 3-1/2" W1's risers. The PM Classic Series isn't available with a hydraulic clutch, which I'll have. The Countour Series is, but costs a small fortune. I was leaning toward the standard chrome current HD Handlebar Controls. Are the CCI and Drag aftermarket HD knockoffs any good? Any other ideas on a reasonably priced set of handlebar controls to use? BTW, I'll be using a single Differential Bore 4-piston direct bolt-on PM caliper up front. TIA for your help! :2vrolijk_21:

Howie, get rid of all the exposed wiring and cables.......go with Custom Controls. They would look good on that bike as well as a Road King. They, in my opinion, dont look as good on a FLHT as a bike with no fairing.

I just checked the prices on the HD Chrome controls. They're pretty pricey too. Not much less than the PM controls. And the aftermarket HD knockoffs are about 1/3 the price of HD's. Hmmm. What did ya have in mind Brian? :confused5:

The ones you saw in Cincinnati. By the time you buy bars, controls, cables etc.... they are around the same price....and nothing is exposed.

I'll have to look into it. I already have the W1 bars. They came off the SERK, when I changed to the 12.5" W1's. But I can send them the bars to install the internal stuff. Hmmm. ???

Thanks Don, I already have the bars though. And I'm trying to find out about any downside to the cheaper aftermarket Taiwanese HD knockoff controls, like on those bars. I'll need hydraulic clutch too. ;)

Really nice stuff, but dayum, $$$$$$$! :o ;)

Dealer cost on the complete hydraulic PM Contour package is $986, retail, over $1400, plus like you said, you need to add cables and lines. ;)

howie, i have the "cheap" knocoffs on my softie, when i have time and money i'll be replacing them. generic CCI stuff cheap plastic with the chrome failing off  >:(

Thanks Neal, that's what I was afraid of. Looks like I'll be trying to get a deal on PM Contour Handlebar and Foot Controls and F&R PM Calipers. Almost $2500 Dealer Price for everything! :nixweiss:

$3300 for the internal controls, PM foot controls and brakes!!! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

It's supposed to be a 10 grand makeover. That's just drivetrain, controls and suspension now!!! Oops, here we go again!!! ::) :o :D ;)

Have you seen new chrome HD controls on Ebay? They're not much cheaper than the PM stuff from HD. I also need the foot controls and brakes, since I'll be putting all this stock 4-speed stuff on the Bobber. Might as well do Cybil's sister up right! ;)

another thing to keep in mind.... my cheapo housings dont have the groove on the clutch side to accept  H-D style grips. when i bought new grips i had to cut the edge off the grip......  :-\
