After riding in the rain on Saturday, it appears that my odometer reset button has shorted out. First indication was when the trip meter reset before me as we were riding down the road and now, when I turn on the ignition with the run switch in the 'Run' position, the indicator lights light and the gauges do a full sweep.

I don't recall if the reset button is fitted with a plug to make replacement easy, or if it's a cut and splice operation. Does anyone know off-hand?

I probably voided my warranty by riding in the rain, so I'll do the work myself.

Had to replace mine because it wouldn't reset anything. It comes with barrel splice connectors, no plug unfortunately. The part number I used was 67854-98 speedometer reset switch....

It feels like a rigid mounted softail without a "B" motor. Two possible culprits, Velva-Ride motor mount or Stabo bushings in the rear. While the Stabos would be the easier of the two to switch out for testing purposes, them not working is more detrimental to my plan than the VR front mount. I'll switch the VR mount back to the stock rubber mount first and test.

As far as everything other than the increased vibration level, it rode great. Replacing the frame got rid of eery bit of the post-accident automatic lane changing. It rides straight as an arrow now. I'm really happy with that.

The jury is still out on the Innovative Balancing Dyna Beads. I'm feeling too much wheel vibration right at 75. I'll recheck once I swap out the front mount. The beads were an optimistic experiment that would get rid of my wheel weights, but might not work out as well as hoped. It's not as smooth at speed as I want.

No sweep with turn on my '06 SEUC Chief.

That's the way it's supposed to work. Mine was failing all day yesterday. I'll try some air and contact cleaner to see if I can drive out some water first. Cut and splice when other methods fail to resolve the problem.

Me either.  If the road is straight 55 75 ??  is too slow.


Reminds me - a week or so ago a fellow I barely know is explaing the dangers of going around rural local 35 mph posted corners on a bike at 55-60 mph. What  I wish I had said (instead of uh-huh I suppose): so when I go around them at 70-75 mph it's safer?

Yea, saw that before. I don't pay any attention to those blanket statements. Prove to me that the tiny little beads caused the tire to fail and I'll eat the cost of a tire. Otherwise, give me a new tire.

Actually, I've never had reason to use a tire warranty before and don't think these beads will have any effect at all, so I chose to ignore their warning.

It looks like the moisture in the switch has cleared up and everything is OK for now. Checking codes shows a b1008

Which makes perfect sense since the odometer reset was shorted out.

I guess it will all be OK until the next time it gets wet.
