Bolt pattern question...
« on: April 02, 2008, 03:49:52 PM »

I'm still looking at getting the S&S Single Bore for my 08 Dyna, but...

The questions is, will the "backing" plate fit the '08?  From tech support at S&S, "Is the bolt pattern the same as the bolt pattern on the 01-06 Delphi EFI?"

Sounds like it isn't dependent on the size of the TB 46/50, as it is on the bolt pattern.

Ugh, does this make sense?

The long and short of this is, will it fit on my 08 FXDSE2 or not?   :nixweiss:

Thanks guys!

Can't specifically answer about an '08. But it worked fine on an '07 110"(stock HD 46mm TB) and a 58mm HPI TB. But when I moved up to the 62mm HPI TB, it no longer worked. You need the HPI A/C assembly for their 62mm. ;)

My understanding is that the 50mm TB is stock on the '08's. I have not personally confirmed that. But that's been stated many times before here. Maybe an '08 owner can confirm that for you. But for the purposes of the S&S tuned runner A/C, it shouldn't matter. ;)

Not only the TB size is different but the bolt pattern as well, they are much different for the 08's.

Thank for the heads up.  That could have been an expensive mistake.

The plot thickens.  The extremely helpful guy at Wimmer Machine indicated the backing plate didn't not change on the Dyna's.  Only on the Touring bikes.

Guy was so damn nice, I'm going to have them build a dual runner for the FXDSE2.

I have only bought a few items from Wimmers over the years, but have found them to be very knowledgable and helpful.  Never had a hiccup with them...
