Well I guess it was only a matter of time.

Cylinder head gasket leaking - going in on Tuesday next week.

Let's hope they sort it.

Sorry to hear of another one.  Lord knows what you'll have to deal with for undocumented mystery head gasket parts supply.  Too many of the shops can't even figure it out when it's local/domestic.  All that hassle for something that's never going to be a final fix anyway.

I'm sure that's the first one your dealer has heard of.

Sorry to have you become a member of HD Leakers. I am amazed this is still happening with almost no attention from the MoCo. It really is in their best interest to be open about it and fix the problem. No need to go over it all again.....

Sorry Bro.  Good luck with which everyway you decide to fix her. (MoCo  Aftermarket)

Not yet. The official gasket is still the 07A they came out with last spring. Only other option is the composite gasket being sent from Milwaukee on a case by case basis.

4,000 miles - and my dealer has had at least another three that I know of.

The last one they dealt with received the new carbon/asbestos gasket that they have recently released. This one has had no problems since and mine will be getting the same. Seems that they are reasonably clued up as they already know that they need to check the liners as well. Lets hope this sorts it.

Any reccommendations as to what else I should get them to check while they are at it would be greatly appreciated (I'm a rider not a mechanic).

Thanks guys.

This is exactly the thread I asked you not to start! Dayum, you've been holding up well. I think it's a matter of time before we see every single 110 go thru this. And HD's answer is completely unacceptable. I wish you luck with your remedy if you stick with HD. In my heart I know, they know all about this, don't give too much of a chit about it, and will take quite some time if at all to fix it properly. FTF & FTW, I want my bike and my life back. Screw their POS 110! Build your own and move on with your life. Sorry to hear it Nige. Good luck man! >:(

Given the experiences of so many others make absolutely certain they don't simply do the obvious and just replace head gaskets.  Make sure they very carefully inspect the cylinders themselves for any sign of movement or expansion by the cylinder liner.  If there is any hint of it don't let them just deck the top off of it.  Replace the cylinders.  There have also been a few cases where cylinder heads have dropped valve guides.  Since the heads will be off in their hands they are worth giving a good thorough inspection at the same time.

All that should be on their dime as part of this job.  Given these engine's history there are no unreasonable requests there.  Beyond that the crankshaft issues seem to have faded.  But if you want as much comfort as you can get you might pay them an extra hour's labor to check the crank runout while it's this far apart to begin with.
